New fuel caps arrived today by post from BRP.
Mailed directly to you, or did you hear this at the dealership?
Either way; :2thumbs:
I got the recall letter from BRP last week, they want me to bring the bike to the shop!!! Is the a Canadian thing?
Came directly to my home. One for each RT.
I will watch for the caps for both my 2010 and 2011.
Oh, I just LOVE getting parts in the mail!
Time to start bugging the PostMistress! :lecturef_smilie:
Is the a Canadian thing?
Must be a Canadian thing. Maybe they have to go through the dealership up there. I can't see why they would pay a dealer to do a one minute job.
That is odd... :dontknow:
It's actually about a fifteen second job for most folks...
It does take me the full sixty! :opps:
Put the new caps on. They do seem to have a tighter fit. A little more effort is needed to get them to "click". The new cap is larger and beefier. I'll post pics.
It appears the recalls to bring the :spyder2: into the shop are for the vent hose fix.
Left picture shows new cap on the left, note larger size.
Right picture shows new cap on left. Again note larger size. Different vent baffle and larger gasket.
Still waiting:coffee::coffee::coffee:
DITTO on the gas cap...
Received mine in the mail today
Bob, I had to find a knife to open the boxes, then find the keys to the Spyders and walk down the steps to the garage. Insert key, raise seat, remove old cap, pick old cap up after dropping it, install new cap and close seat. That was on the wifes Spyder. Operation went smoother on my Spyder, I didn't drop the cap. :roflblack: I think the one minute for the dealer to do it is conservative. You'd probably have to leave it for three days for them to fit it in the schedule. :banghead:
I received the new cap today also. My installation was easier as I already had the seat up with the battery tender on.
It will definately get the road test this weekend, sunny with temps in the mid 70"s.
I haven't received mine yet but am wondering how easy it will be with the larger gas cap to get it on/off through the Ultimate seat fuel door. Anyone try yet?
I may have missed some earlier posts but why are the caps being changed? To the best of my knowledge we have never been informed about any recalls for anything here in New Zealand. Maybe we get 'special' Spyders that are always perfect?
