Need advice please
My wife has a 2015 Spyder RT with less than 3,000 miles on it. Last weekend while out on a ride, she had the cruise on and all of a sudden it started to accellerate quickly on its own. It did this 3 times. Scared the heck out of her and everyone in the group. Its at the dealer getting checked, but they are telling us they cant find anything wrong because no codes are showing. Have tried to contact Can Am, but not getting much help from them. This is a very serious safety issue, and dont want my wife back on it until the issue is found and fixed.
Would be interested in hearing your advice, opinions and wisdom on this.
Thanks
Bill

hi bill
are we sure she didnt hit "resume" instead of "enter"...resume is the upward position and enter is downwards
if she hit resume the bike will accelerate to the last set position which may not be where you want to be
hope you get it sorted quickly

Thanks for the reply Russ. I thought the same thing the first time it happened. But the second and third time it happened, she had it set on 65, had been doing fine for a few miles. She had her hand just resting on the grip, not even close to the cruise button/resume button.
That made me rule out operator error.

Assuming that she was just crusing along when this happened. I have not had this issue with the Spyder, but did have that happen on my Harley. Turned out to be a bad Set/Resume switch and once I replaced that the problem was solved. It also scared the heck out of me when it happened!

Thinking back - best I remember
Only recall one other report like this and it was a few years back.
The claim was that it caused a crash.
We never heard back from the reporting party.

Thanks everyone for the advice and wisdom. Its at the dealership now. Hopefully they can find and fix the problem. My wife loves her Spyder. But I,m scared to let her back on it unless the dealer and tell me 100% its fixed and safe. I ride a Stratoliner 1900 Deluxe, and really enjoy having the wife unit to ride with.
Thanks again

Could be a bad switch or bad connection, could be when she hits a bump the right way it activates the increase speed on the switch

Had this happen on our 2010 RTS. Turned out to be a loose connection at the speed sensor. By the way, Stratoliner is a really nice ride.

Thanks again everyone. I can see that this is a great group with lots of good people !

On another note. You should not use cruse when riding in a group. Only the lead rider.

What is the logic of this? If the group is traveling a long distance, not using cruise control is awfully tiring. But that's just me..

I use cruise all the time. Group or not. Except in town of course!

Agree
I use cruise if I'm group riding all the time. Why not?
