2nd Smartphone Lost off mount and destroyed
My luck with cell phones is.....well no luck at all. I have now destroyed two Galaxy 7s that have bounced out of my RAM X Grip and destroyed in 4 months time.
What mounts are available and reliable that you are using. Oh by the way, I can no longer get insurance on my phones. I've lost or it's been destroyed 3 phones in the last year and the company canceled my phone insurance.
My wife won't let me buy anymore phones!

I had a tablet on mine and never fell out..

I run the FOBO app for Spyder and Freedom trailer and use it as a secondary GPS as well. I have the Zumo Garmin 660LM. My backup phone and last phone I have will stay in the top case until I can find a secure mount.

you can look for something like this to tie around the phone and mount to hold the phone in place. check staples also

I just bought a X grip. It has a rubber flex that goes around each corner. Did you use that? Or did it come with that? My Galaxy S5 with a cover around it fits well and I don't need flex rubber

The 7s Active and Edge, the rubber tether isn't big enough for the phone and case.

I always use a little bit of Velcro on the back of my phone case and the center of the Phone mount just for extra hold. Works like a charm.

Go to pro grip web site , the have holders for specific phone. I haven't lost mine in three years!

SlipGrip car mounts has kydex mounts for your phone and case. Here's a link for my Apple 6s with Lifeproif case

Not sure why you would leave the phone in the case and expect the holder to keep it secured properly.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 and got tired of the X-Grip hitting my volume buttons when I use it in landscape mode, mine is mounted over my dash on my RT. I switched to using an IPOW universal cell phone mount, that also works as a tripod mount, selfie stick mount, etc. I like it because it has the one thumbscrew to tighten and firmly grip the phone WITH Impact Gel case. I rode 1700 miles with my phone over oft time bumpy roads in MN, IA, KS, NE, SD, and ND, then last week did a IBA SS1K through MN and IA, and my phone never was an issue.
Using the TricLED Spyder Dash bar, some RAM mount components, and the IPOW cell phone mount I got this over my dash.

Here it is with my phones case mounted just to show how the phone might look in the mount.

I thought that was the point of X-grips, they grip around the object they are gripping. Anyway the same applies, you can put a little Velcro on the back of your "phone" and a little in the center of your grip for extra hold.

Let me know if you put yours in the X Grip with the holder and if its stays in place

Because the case keeps from breaking when I drop it. It's a slim line case. My phone and case sits firmly into the X grip. Both occasions I hit a bump in the road the x grip flexed and the phone came out.

I have 2 ram mount x-grips with the tether and if it is on there properly, it will not jar out. When i first got it, I thought there was no way for the tether to fit, but it does. I have iphone 7. I can send you a pic of it after I get home from work.

I'll send you a pic tonight, hmmm, sounds interesting, I don't think a phone could fall out with a tether attached. You could also send me a picture of your set up......

Are you sure you had the correct size tether? There are different sizes. I have an iPhone 6plus with an Otter case and it works. Is your phone bigger than that? I get ribbed a lot for having such a big phone lol. Cant see many phones being larger.

The Tech Mount works GREAT and you will not have your phone come off of it....
