Not sure why you would leave the phone in the case and expect the holder to keep it secured properly.

I thought that was the point of X-grips, they grip around the object they are gripping. Anyway the same applies, you can put a little Velcro on the back of your "phone" and a little in the center of your grip for extra hold.

Let me know if you put yours in the X Grip with the holder and if its stays in place

Because the case keeps from breaking when I drop it. It's a slim line case. My phone and case sits firmly into the X grip. Both occasions I hit a bump in the road the x grip flexed and the phone came out.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 and got tired of the X-Grip hitting my volume buttons when I use it in landscape mode, mine is mounted over my dash on my RT. I switched to using an IPOW universal cell phone mount, that also works as a tripod mount, selfie stick mount, etc. I like it because it has the one thumbscrew to tighten and firmly grip the phone WITH Impact Gel case. I rode 1700 miles with my phone over oft time bumpy roads in MN, IA, KS, NE, SD, and ND, then last week did a IBA SS1K through MN and IA, and my phone never was an issue.

Using the TricLED Spyder Dash bar, some RAM mount components, and the IPOW cell phone mount I got this over my dash.

Here it is with my phones case mounted just to show how the phone might look in the mount.
