No new Farkles for me for long time
I guess I wont be buying any new farkles for a long time, because my work place is closing its doors.
I will be still employed until Jan. 4th 2019. I found out this today.
I was with the company for 19 years.

Yes, a rotten situation. I add my best wishes to Pete's that you promptly find another position that you like as much as the last one.

Keep Your Face Forward in the Wind
If it had to happen, at least times are much better than they were. Hopefully the low unemployment rate will find you finding a new spot that is a good fit soon. One door shuts, another opens, so find it. Remember your Spyder is good wind therapy to use during the search for what is next.

Sorry to hear, hope something right comes around.

Job ending for a New beginning
Sorry for the heartbreaking news, especially at this time of year.
My former employer closed the company in Pittsburgh last year at Dec 7.
After foundering for a while I found a new position with Panasonic in Reno, NV. near Tahoe.
Come and join us. Help is needed in all disciplines and Ryding in the desert and mountains is awesome.
Seriously PM me if you are considering moving to the Southwest

New Opportunities Await!
I have had similar experience(s) in my career and took a leap of faith last time. I decided that my next job would be something that I really wanted to try, but never would due to being afraid to make a major change in my life. I went from a long career in engineering, making good money, but dealing with a high level of stress everyday, a long commute, and a general lack of being in control of my destiny. So, at the last opportunity, I decided to try to go into teaching math at the college level. I was able to be in the right place at the right time and landed a job at the local university four years ago. I make half the money I used to make, but I get my summers off (more riding time!), as well as the normal breaks during the school year. I love what I am doing and look forward to coming to work everyday. I don't miss the money and am much more optimistic about life in general.
The point being, don't be afraid to look around and see if there are opportunities out there that you may want to try, but never have due to the security of your current job. It may require some sacrifices, but true quality of life cannot be bought with just money! And besides, farkles can only bring limited happiness....the true joy is in the riding!
Good luck to you!

Something Better Out There
Dang Deanna, sorry about the job loss
. not a good time of year for it either (although they did wait until AFTER the Holidays). I was laid off in 2013 after a 32 year career with IBM -- with that many years, I was able to retire with full pension. Took my "retraining money" and got a second degree in Petroleum Tech at the local community college. Found a job in the industry doing database management and got laid off again when oil took a nose dive in 2016. After the second lay off, I did not bother to look for anything beyond what was required while I drew unemployment. Still have a consulting contract with the company that employed me in the oil industry
. but, they have not needed anything from me in close to a year. I am enjoying my retirement now
. I don't expect to look for any new work after the first of the year.
Bottom line
. "when one door closes, another opens" (or something like that). Everything happens for a reason and I am sure there is something better just waiting for you to discover it.
All the best
. Ann

None of us like change, that's for sure. Sorry to hear this but you have a couple months to shape the next chapter in your life. Be positive, after all it could be a better one
than you presently have.
Yesterday I went to two business's that I have worked with in the past. A surprise to me, both had closed there doors recently. If there is one thing for sure, nothing stays
the same.
