What are the actual benefits of removing the C.C.? Throatier exhaust sound? More power? Any shift in the "power band"? MPG?
Thanks

What I found is if you install the cat bypass with the stock muffler it would be helpful to also install the big city thunder baffle. I was really surprised how much low and mid range power I gained.
with just the by pass pipe I found it to be just a bit louder than I cared for and since it was put on since new I was not aware of any power loss. The baffle takes the edge off the noise and gives the exhaust a nice deep note.
do you need to make the change?........No of course not........but I'm glad I did.
The cat weighs something like 16 pounds and generates a considerable amount of heat. With it off the under side is really open and I don't feel any heat off the spyder even on really warm days.

In my opinion the weight of the primary muffler is an advantage:low and biased toward the rear, something the F3 needs for traction off the line. I've done surgery on both the primary and secondary muffler sections: better sound tone without the harshness. Adding a baffle back into the system that you just opened up is to add back pressure which is needed for low to mid-range performance. Why spend that king of money? Plus I've had issues with the aftermarket bypass sections in which the rods have cracked loose from the pipe sections.

You will lose low end power mid range power and you will also make it sound like a 16 year old's Honda civic with a fart can muffler.

Thanks for replies
Pretty much what I expected the results to be.
