Helmet security
Hi everyone.
I am new to the Spyder.
I just bought the RT Limited white/chrome.
Other than carrying your helmet around is there a way to secure it on the bike?
I tried the built in under the seat hooks but they won’t work with my Bell helmets.
They won’t fit in any of the storage compartments either.
Are there any aftermarket devices that will secure the helmet on the bike?
I tried the search feature with no luck.

Lidlox are one easy alternative. Go to Google and search for "Lidlox". Tried to add a specific link but gets censored............

I use a cable lock passed through the eye port of my FF helmet and the passenger assist bar.

I use a gun lock threaded thru the helmet D rings and secure to the passenger hand rails

Good use for an otherwise useless thing.

This may sound dumb............... BUT................. the two saddlebags on a RT are different sizes and a helmet will fit in one side but not the other, try both sides.

Great ideas.. especially the gun lock idea... I have plenty of those laying around!
Cruze Joe, I didn’t try all 4. Only the rear and the left side.
I will try the right side... thanks...
Thanks everyone.

Welcome to the parade.

Cruz’r Joe, you are correct. The right side is large enough to fit my wife’s helmet. Thanks for the tip...
Also, the gun lock idea saved me $100+..
But, the lidlocks are pretty cool.

I made two small, double ended loops out of plastic coated steel cable to fit through the helmet D-rings and use the OEM under seat helmet hooks; about 10 min work.
Artillery lends dignity to what would
otherwise be a vulgar brawl.

Front trunk (Frunk) and right side saddlebag. Gun locks, or, dog choke chain collars. Hook below the seat. Welcome! We are out of town, but will be home on the 12th. There is a Spyder group that meets at proshop in Henderson the first Saturday of the month. 9:00 am. The group is going to a poker run to benefit veterans. That starts at the Leatherneck club, Arville and Spring Mountain. Great run, great food, great band, great cause. Looking forward to meeting you! Joe

I must be missing something. I wear an extra large Shoei and have no trouble fitting it into the right side "saddle bag" of my 2015 RT-S with the face shield facing forward and top of helmet facing outward. My wife can do the same with her helmet on her 2013 RT-L. We do have to remove the Sena 20S communicators but it's a minor inconvenience. We stuff them inside the helmet along with gloves and at least we know we're turned them off before walking away - usually. When we're touring with full bags we use cable locks through the eye port and the passenger assist bar as other have stated.

Hi Arion, Yes. I assumed both side bags were the same size until another member pointed it out. I only checked the rear and the left side. I didn't know the right side is a bit bigger than the left. I can not fit my Bell XL into the right side but the Bell Medium will fit.
A member mentioned gun locks as a way to secure them and it works perfectly too.
Thanks.

Here's my solution: https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...38-Helmet-clip
$5 worth of stainless steel, 1 hour of labor and it's nice to have a little project to work on.

I end up putting mine in the frunk, cuz it is too big with the sena on it, and my wife's goes in the right side bag, but updside down because it won't fit sena-wise either. They really should have made both the side bags big enough to fit full faced helmets. That and no front power/sound ports are my biggest complaints of the Spyder.

I just bought a large locking carabiner and small coiled steel cable. I can attach it to helmet rings and to the handrails on my RS. Or put the cable on the carabiner and then pass the cable through an open face shield. The cable also allows me to run it through the arm of my jacket to keep it from walking away, if I want to leave it on the bike. The whole setup is small and fits in my dash bag. Around 10 bucks on Amazon. I take the sena off the helmet and lock it in the frunk on top of whatever is in there if I'm on longer ride.
