The Douro river has several dams along it's way to the sea, but it's still very navigable throught this locks.
The one from the picture is at Peso da Régua, the dull is 90m/295ft in length and 12m/42ft large and moves the water 28m/93ft up and down.

Oh and yes... That was a close call with that bus
The road is very narrow at some places and there are quite a few tourist buses around. All caution needed.

Thanks for taking us along with you. Great tour. We did all of Spain up into Andorra and a bit of France but did not get a chance to do Portugal.
