    I like to run it through the gears on on ramps, and sometimes have to slow to merge into traffic, and/or wait for riding buddies to catch up.

    Never been much over 80, which will be my age next month.

    During low traffic periods on I-70 on my way to work on the weekends has a long downhill coming off of south mountain.

    Going uphill from 17 to the top of south mountain I can usually run about 110 once I crest the top and start going on the downhill stretch I can reach 126 and then the throttle will drop offline (no response).

    Once the speed comes down to about 124 it will give me the throttle back.

    I have yet to use WOT. There is a built-in speed limiter on my20024 F3-S. At around 60-65 MPH the wind tries to push me off the back so rather than watch the bike go on without me, I just relax and watch the other traffic pass me by. I have had it up to 80 one time and since then, see no need to exceed any speed limits.

    AHHH! Too Bad! What's a little torque between friends?

    Lamont's Boss Hoss had do much torque it would stand the bike up off the kickstand when he remote started it. And the kickstand had it leaned over quite a bit. He would park it at a restaurant where we could watch out the window. When it drew a crowd, he'd hit the start button. I'm sure there were at least a few who needed a wardrobe change after one of these episodes.

    YeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. That's a great one. I love bikes with lots of torque. I was always a bit chicken to drive over 100 though. Like Clint used to say..."a man needs to know his limitations." That worked for me, and yes, I know, I have missed out on some good stuff.

    I had Wick-it Performance tune the ECM and raise the rev limiter to 8900 ram. I've not been there, YET, but I've been close. At 8500 or 8600 in 4th or 5th gear things are beginning to happen real quick. Maybe someday, I'll try it in 6th.
    The ECM tune (stage2) is absolutely the best thing you can do to your Spyder. Even if you never get over the speed limit, you won't believe how well your Spyder runs. I can't recommend it enough. Try it, you'll like it.

    I do work the throttle in the twisties, But for the most part, I ride or drive all my stuff like it's going to break. I did once own a FJR 1300, and hit the 150 mark a lot. Once I had my wife on the back at 140, and she leaned forward and asked if it will go any faster!

    I raced Karts many long years ago and ride with BMW sport tourers that like to go fast. I have no choice but to nail the throttle to keep them in sight when they accelerate out of the curves. WOT is an every ride situation.

    BTW, the best I can get the RT to go is 113 GPS verified (many times). BRP programming limits the max regardless of gear.

    WOT=acceleration=exhilaration, have to pull a couple of gears at WOT every ride to see if the Spyder is alive and well and the driver is alert. Not in traffic, only on the highway when it is safer to do so.

    You could go the conservative route and buy a Power Commander or Pedal Box, which won't actually increase the engine's 'power output' any, just give it to you/make it accessible to you sooner with less throttle twisting effort on your behalf; or you could go the whole hog and get yourself an ECU Upgrade!     So Allen, searching on any of those names; on 'ECU Upgrade'; or likely even just on 'ECU', should get you a whole raft of information and lead you directly to the right place and a lot of discussion on how to unleash more of the power & performance that BRP decided that you as a Spyder Ryder simply CANNOT HAVE in your factory spec de-tuned and significantly restricted/restrained/retarded Spyder, despite BRP offering other platforms running what is effectively the same engine, only not de-tuned and rev-limited to anywhere near the same extent; all without any significant maintenance &/or reliability issues too!!

    A Spyder without some or all of those 'factory-imposed' limitations will open the door & your experiences to a whole 'nuther world of performance and enjoyment, basically letting your machine become what you really wanted in the first place - and it'll be something that'll make you juuust a little 'quietly glad' (or should that be 'smugly glad'?? ) that you don't have all the limitations that people have mentioned earlier in this thread on your machine!!

    Ps: I too have one of those Wives who appreciates performance! The only time I get an elbow or a smack on the back while out riding is when she wants me to go faster!!

As such, this is a Forum run on fairly generic 'bulletin board' platform, but that basic platform is continually being further developed, tested, and upgraded so that it can be sold & used by a vast array of Fora, all with slightly different needs and wants, so it needs to be fairly generic.

    And Yes, this particular platform has been tailored a little to our specific needs/wants, all paid for by our Owner and Sponsors - tailoring that needs to be developed, tested, and integrated into the base platform to make sure it operates properly on the basic platform for EVERY change &/or upgrade made for whatever reason, which requires someone to be paid to do all that, and so it costs the Owner and our Sponsors even more $$ (but remember, you get access to this Forum for free!)     As I mentioned when this was raised not that long ago (wasn't that by you, too?? ) there was a time that this Forum DID support enhanced mobile phone access thru 'add-ons' (like tapatalk) but those many and varied add-on developers each had their own upgrade/development cycle, and the forum platform developers had a completely different upgrade/development cycle, and all the various systems were usually out of sync, causing faults & failures in the weirdest of places and ways - unless someone was paid to get all the necessary upgrade/integration/testing work done EVERY TIME for EVERY DIFFERENT ADD-ON and neither of those afore-mentioned developers were interested in funding that, so guess who paid again, and again, and again, EVERY TIME there was even the slightest change in any of those base platforms/products &/or any of the add-ons, meaning that we pretty much always had faults or glitches on the Forum somewhere cos it was almost impossible to keep up with all the changes and it all got pretty damned expensive very quickly (but remember, you get access to this Forum for free)!!

    So it is what it is - as SpyderLovers, we ALL have access to a Forum run on a relatively stable platform that allows reasonable access for most and it doesn't directly cost us anything to use; to do anything more will cost SOMEONE more, and it already costs our Owner and Sponsors a LOT, and not always with a clearly identifiable return on that investment!! So please remember, it is what it is, and you do get access to this Forum as it is for free!!

    I do as well. It really doesn't adapt to the phone's screen. Fonts all very very small. Sample phone screenshots below.... your eyes must be a lot better than mine. It requires a lot of zooming and panning around with the fingers, and I have the iPhone Pro Max (large) model. Most sites have either "Reactive" html that reformats the screen, or a mobile version of the site altogether. No, I don't think it was me that mentioned this before, but maybe, because it irritates me a lot. So much so, that I'll see a new post notification at night on my phone and choose to wait until I get to my computer the next day to reply.

    I'm already subscribed to this thread because I responded to it, and have auto-subscribe turned on. I get emails every time it gets an update. Unfortunately, it also means my subscription list is too long to find a specific post later. I'm looking for something that let's be favorite a specific post, not the whole thread. Something I can come back to maybe a year later. Your browser bookmark idea is the closest to what I want, but it's a bit of a workaround.


    And yes, I very much appreciate Lamont and Lamonster Garage for providing this excellent forum. I try to drive people to this site a lot on FB groups when I know their answers are over here; I'm a big fan of the enormous set of knowledge over here. I understand the costs of changing things, I've been in IT since we used to run Fidonet Bulletin Boards over dial up. I was just trying to make suggestions on making it even better! I don't see anything wrong with offering improvement suggestions. Sorry if they didn't come across like that and received well. I'll keep quiet from now on and stick to Spyder talk.

    I am the anthesis of a conservative riding style. That stated, it doesn't take WOT to drift around a corner or accelerate from a stop. I typically roll on the throttle as much as the rear tire can handle. Optimum shift point for acceleration is not redline on the tack, but around the peak torque curve. On my '15 F3-S, on a straight, flat road in remote NM, elevation ~4,000', loaded with travel gear, I did reach 108 on the GPS.

    Appears that the lions share of responses went to 'Only When Necessary' and 'Sometimes'.

    Somehow, I thought the group would be more on the frisky side. But stopping to think about it. Buying an RT and riding 2-up (which a huge number do) isn't for the purpose of whacking the throttle a lot. So I get it.

    I will 80 in three weeks, and I just completed an 1800 commute from Arizona to Washington via Northern California on highway 1 and 101. I will be 80, with no intention of acting the age.
