• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Interesting performance comparo between F3 and Indian

Okay, I got bored. How fast can I get the F3 to go if I "cheat"? Today was moderately windy, so I caught a tail wind. I added 5 PSI to all three tires. My Corvette manual tells me to air the tires higher for high speed driving so I thought it might help the F3. Maybe less rolling resistance...

    Mobil 1 Oil Analysis Report

I have changed my oil with the filter removed and without. The time without I did not loosen the filter. In both cases I got 4.5 L of oil out. I put 4.5 L in so I was happy to see that there was no oil consumed. I let the oil drain for maybe 20 minutes each time. I know it sounds weird to...

    Dealer telling me the truth?

What is dumb (IMO) is you don't get credit for all of the parts they take off. Sure, you get to keep them I guess, but what do you need them for?

    Essential F3 Modifications and Farkles

I think the BRP (Hella) driving lights are fantastic. They are a PITA to install, though. If you get the SM6 there is this farkle: http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?83950-SM5-SM6-farkle I have the heated grips and the Akrapovic pipe but I haven't installed them yet. I have high...

Interesting performance comparo between F3 and Indian

Thanks! There is an app for my phone which supposedly will measure 0-60 and 0-100 times. I may play with that next. First I need to find out how precise and accurate it is.

Interesting performance comparo between F3 and Indian

My guess is the power falls off quickly after the 7500 RPM peak. Speedo. It jives with my earlier (no wind) testing. I consider the 113 MPH results the "real" top speed.

    Went to Mobile 1

I went around 15 miles past the last bar on the gas gauge going out today. Not by choice! I just forgot and the low fuel light is real hard to see. Anyways, my new "gallons added" record is 6.344 gallons.

    Mobil 1 Oil Analysis Report

If testing shows that the M1 4T can go the 9300 miles I will switch over myself. I have run M1 4T in quite a few bikes and I like it as lot. I can get it locally for under $10 a quart on sale. I would much prefer doing 9300 miles intervals because I ride a lot. But, until the numbers come in, I...

    Ufit Foot Peg Position

I'm 6' with a 32" inseam. Position 5 is great. I have the "attitude" bars. They really make a huge difference. Your wrists are turned out more. Very comfortable. Very easy to install. I paid for my fitting parts. (If anyone needs stock bars and linkages for cheap let me know!)

Interesting performance comparo between F3 and Indian

Some data from today's testing: This data illustrates how aerodynamics kill the F3. In my previous testing, the air was still. I always do runs both directions and the speed is the same. Today there was a moderate wind so I went faster with a tail wind and slower with a head wind. 6th with...

Interesting performance comparo between F3 and Indian

To dyno the F3 just put all of the wheel sensors on the rear wheel. (Is that possible? Dunno! But it would work!) A thought about horsepower: I had a Yamaha R3 with maybe 35 HP on a good day. That bike hauled me up to 104 MPH numerous times at my secret testing facility. That shows that...

    Vanity Plates

I had my username (XYZZY) initially but I got tired of explaining what it means, so I'll move that one to my CB1100 and put the new one (SPYD3R) on my F3-S.

Interesting performance comparo between F3 and Indian

FWIW I have access to a place where I can open up my toys for a very long stretch*. The F3 is a barn door. I have tested it against a head wind and barely broke 105 MPH in 5th. I have never tested it with a tail wind. The max speeds I posted are in still air. The RPM readings I posted are not...

Interesting performance comparo between F3 and Indian

The gearing doesn't matter if the aerodynamic drag is too high. I can't redline mine in 5th, let alone sixth.

Interesting performance comparo between F3 and Indian

    My F3 can't get anywhere near 130 MPH. 6th @ 6650 = 113 5th @ 7850 = 113 4th @ 8100 = 99 :(

Any other Ryders in NE Arkansas?

Let me know what you (or others) are looking for in a club. I have experience with managing a cycling club but I'm new to Spyders. I've only lived here for a little more than four years so I'm still learning my way around. Please let your friends know about the Facebook group. Thanks!

    F3 S- Motor Seize

Those filters don't collapse easily. Check out this thread about the KTM SD and a collapsed filter: http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/2015-ktm-superduke-1290-oil-filter-fail.1060349/ Dunno if that helps any.

    wheel balance

Someday I'll figure out how to do that multi-quote thing. The guy who mounted and balanced my wheels/tires at Wal-Mart was pretty squared away. He let me watch and learn. He took his time and did a pretty reasonable job. It still shimmies but much less than before. For the $8 it cost me it...
