• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Darn cell phones

Unfortunately it's a phone thing, not a SIM card thing Not all phones are wi-fi calling capable. You will probably want to check with your carrier as to your current device's compatibility/capability with their wifi calling offering. And again, if you have friends on different carriers, it...

    Darn cell phones

Have you evaluated alternative providers? You may be in a place where signal strength is uniformly poor, but often one provider will have a better signal than another in a fixed location like your home. (i.e., perhaps AT&T has a weak signal but Verizon's is strong where you live.)...

    Newbie questions

I gotta ask you -- how'd you get to $8K in upgrades? Other than "Practice, practice, practice..." I'm about to embark upon my first round and I am willingly reaching for the wallet to do so, but I'm not seeing $8,000 as even a possible destination! :-)

Utah Pete another book, after Plum Island

That's actually more a publishing house move, not an authorial decision, I believe Jerry -- I now know you to be a man of great taste, as Michael Connelly (creator of characters like Harry Bosch and Mickey "The Lincoln Lawyer" Haller) is one of my favorites, too. One of the reasons he's a...

Utah Pete another book, after Plum Island

Libraries are digital, too! Pete -- I haven't bought a book in years, and I'm completely digital (Kindle). Message me if you're not familiar with how that works, but in short, many libraries use OverDrive, a free application to manage and deliver digital titles. Here in Texas, many libraries...

    Texas tolltag no longer required

Thanks for sharing I'll see if the TxTag folks are doing the same. Wouldn't mind having the option, but just don't want to deal with the "special" motorcycle tag, deposit, etc. that they state is required (still).

    Texas tolltag no longer required

Must be brand new None of the tollway authority websites that I checked (NTTA, TxTag, HCTRA) are reporting any different directives/guidance on toll tags for motorcycles, at least not yet. I'm not sure I like the idea of eliminating the two-factor authentication aspect of this, however...

    NOW THIS IS NICE

Was there supposed to be a link or attachment? I am only seeing the picture of your new Spyder in your signature.

    Wax

+1 on Turtle Wax ICE spray Based on this thread and Joel's impassioned endorsement of Turtle Wax ICE spray, I gave it a try last weekend and I now understand why he's so emphatic. It really worked -- I hadn't washed my bike in the 9 months I've owned it other than when Mother Nature did it for...

    Fobo Accuracy

I've found it to be pretty accurate I'm with Pete in that I'm just looking to stay in the window, but when I first deployed my FOBO I checked it with my very accurate pressure gauge a few times and it was matching it down to the tenth of a psi.

    Bob D., food question.....

Going to have to disagree with you there, Bob... You're right about how it was popularized, but chicken and waffles has its American origins in the Pennsylvania Dutch country back in the 1600s, and more or less contemporaneously chicken and quick bread (biscuits, hoecakes, and ultimately...

What cup holder works for you, on an RT Spyder?

A potential +2 on the Drink2Go models Thanks to those on this thread who recommended Drink2Go -- I like the look and approach, and have just ordered a 2-pack Drink2Go offers on Amazon. (1 screw-in mount for the front handlebars, 1 clamp mount for the passenger grip bars.)...

    Safety Gear

MOTGATT I commute on my Spyder, so I'm wearing jeans and hiking boots -- with my full face helmet, protective gloves, and armored jacket, even though it's been 100+ degrees most of the summer thus far. No locker room at work, so don't want to do a twice-daily wardrobe change in the bathroom...

    Highway Speed RPM

:agree: Not a motorcycle example, but when my wife and I worked in Yellowstone a few summers back, we got *incredible* gas mileage on our days off. Reason? Long stretches of unsignaled roads (meaning no startups and stops) running at a steady 45 mph (the rangers loved to pull employees over)...

    HELP ON TRIP PLANNING

What's your stance on humidity? My $0.02, you're going to want to do that in the early spring or late fall, mid-late October, for the nicest weather in New Orleans. Mardi Gras is in early March next year, so that's something to be avoided or targeted, depending upon your druthers. That would...
