There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Attaching a walking cane to a Spyder RT

Ok guys I got bad knees:gaah:. Left is worse than the right. I am not ready for a knee replacement, at least mentally. I use a cane a lot of the time, today I had an appointment at the VA hospital and when I got off the Spyder knee went out and it was limp, limp, limp the rest of the day. Plus it hurts like hell when it happens:gaah:. Any ideas of how to attach my walking cane to my Spyder? In such a way that I won't get impaled if something happens?

Try this..

I carry a collapsable cane in the frunk. I have seen others attach a full cane to the grab bar on the passenger seat.

Yup!
I've got one of those ones that is strung together with elastic cords internally, and folds down into a size that'll fit into the side storage compartments.

Ditto on the collapsible cane (elastic cord type ^^) that folds to fit in any one of the storage compartments (except the glovebox/former pie warmer of course!!) altho at times I've carried a rigid cane either lying down alongside one of the passenger grab handles & bungeed onto it (but that means it projects forwards a bit & gets between one leg & the tupperware); or bungeed across the front of the handle bars!

Some days I think a heavily weighted cane & a couple of quick release clips on the bars might be the go, so I can grab it & wave it around; but that's usually only when I hafta contend with other idiots in the traffic, & once I'm outta the traffic I generally get over it pretty quickly!! ;)

A collapsible cane works great for me. It will fit nicely in any of the storage areas--frunk, trunk, saddle bags.

I was thinking about that one also.
But it seemed like a bit of overkill, for just a cane. :dontknow:

Just a cane yes probably but bad knees tend to get worse & soon enough a cane wont be enough
:( sorry to say , just my opinion

I wasn't there but I still care! POW /MIA VETS

I had an ankle replacement almost four years ago and that's why I'm on a Spyder. I knew I made the right decision the minute I woke up in recovery. The pain was gone. Oh, wait. That might have been the drugs. For me, the best part was discovering the Spyder. You've already found it.

The best thing you could do for yourself and those you love is wrap your head around a knee replacement and just do it! Then, follow the physical therapy instructions to the letter. That will determine your success. You'll be saying, "I should have done this years ago!"

You'll be glad you did and you won't need a cane.

How long did it take you to recover, and resume your normal daily activities?
(I'm trying to figure out the best time of year to have this done... I kind of have to be mobile during the Winter (for shoveling), but am wondering how much "Spydering-Time", I might lose in the Spring. :dontknow:

Are you thinking you can base your recovery time on how quickly/slowly someone else recovered?

I can tell you I have seen patients walking within a few days of knee surgery, and you wouldn't know they had surgery. I've also seen patients that end up in a hospital rehab unit after knee/hip surgery.

Get the knee replaced. I had both done and was riding wishing 5 weeks after. You'll never regret it.

I have floorboards, so my crutches get attached to those at the bottom and to the passenger grab rails at the top.... both ends using double-sided velcro straps.

<------- Just like in the pic

Cane on RT

I have been using a cane for years and have a 2015 RT - I lay the cane on top of the dash then take a bungee cord pass it under the center windshield bracket - bring each end up over the cane then back down over the cane and using the hook on each end of the bungee attach it to the outer windshield supports . you may have to experiment with the length of the bungee - just make sure it is tight enough that the wind doesn't lift it and recheck the tightness if you adjust the height of the windshield .

i had both knees done and have no pain in my arms !!:roflblack: also still ride my vic
cross roads , but wife wanted something safer . i also carry a collapsible cane just in case.
no pain, no gain.--irv

We looped velcro under the seat in four places and then attached the cane on the side, it did not get in the way and mine was a GS.
