• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Where is the ECU on a 2008 Spyder GS? Any hints on how to remove it?

    Gear position sensor behind sprocket

Rickylux said: Can anyone indicate a parts supplier please? Answer to that is - I doubt it as it's probably a part of the eng wiring harness. See reply 14 - replaced mine in 2012 for same reason as in reply 2, and it's still perfect.

08 GS Manual won't go into Reverse - any ideas?

Get an assistant perhaps to operate the R lever while you look under the trike on the left side to see if the small lever attached to the bottom end of the cable is moving easily. When you put it into 1st does the trike want to lurch forward a bit? If so, there's a clutch issue which would...

HELP! I threaded the transmission hex bolt! Will JB Weld help get it out?? What else might work?

In a perfect world perhaps so, but when snugged up I've not encountered it coming loose.

After owning 3, lack of dealer support is forcing me to give up on Spyders!

Do yourself a favor Gerald and keep the one you have. Going back to a big 2-wheeler ain't going to give you the satisfaction you've enjoyed on your Spyders.

Looking at an '09 RS SM5 - are they Reliable & Easy to work for DIY repairs & maintenance? What about Electronics?

Ahhh - yes. There was a recall on the DPS back then. Check the VIN with BRP to see if it has been replaced. Recalls are a no-cost fix by the manufacturer.

Looking at an '09 RS SM5 - are they Reliable & Easy to work for DIY repairs & maintenance? What about Electronics?

I bought my SM5 new in 2009. It's done about 106,000km. It had a couple of somewhat minor issues while in warranty but nothing since. The 'worst' thing that's happened to it was a decade ago when the water pump oil seal began leaking a few drops on the floor after a ride. I handled the...

Do the later models have a bleeder on the VSS/VCM/ABS unit like the earlier models?

HELP! I threaded the transmission hex bolt! Will JB Weld help get it out?? What else might work?

You and I know (others may not) that it's an odd sort of bolt. It has a thin flat head and 4mm (iirc) recess in it for an Allen key. I reuse it as is. The thread locker already on it helps to keep the nut tight when snugged up. As for torque, the older Spyder service manual had a torque spec...
