• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I get a Leg pain after riding the RT for more than half an hour - anyone else? Any solutions?

I am also 6'2". I felt that the leg room was a bit "tight" so I had a custom seat made. You can read my review of it here. I had them add a little to the seat so I sit a touch higher. which gave me the added leg room I needed. I also still love riding my FJR, but the arthritis in my hip prevents...

Upgrading front shocks; what's the difference between Elka and BajaRon??

I'm leaning toward purchasing the Bajaron shocks after reading all the replies. I'm actually getting a refund from my taxes this year (first time in many years) and going to use it for some upgrades.

Prepping for the ultimate riding season - have I missed anything?

I can understand the time limitations. There are too many roads to check out. The Ave of Giants and the stretch from Legget to Fort Brag is an excellent choice. I was up there last Sept. Also another great web sight to check out for California motorcycle roads is Pashnit.com.

Prepping for the ultimate riding season - have I missed anything?

For some good roads to check out in Northern Ca. There's Hwy 299 Between Redding and Arcata. Then Hwy 36 (which is one of my favorites) Between Fortuna and Red Bluff. Also, there is Hwy 199 that starts just above Crescent City and goes to Grants Pass Ore. This one takes you through one of the...

Upgrading front shocks; what's the difference between Elka and BajaRon??

I am thinking about upgrading the front shocks on my '22 RTL. Lamonster sells the Elka shocks for $950, while Baja Ron shocks are listed at $1,200 a set. What I am wondering is, what is the difference between the two (besides the $250 price difference).

USER NAMES/HANDLES - What does yours mean? Where did it come from?

Back in my (much) younger days, I used to get together with a bunch of other guys and play D&D. My favorite character I used was a Mage, Krommicus. This was back before computers and the internet. When I got my first computer and needed a "user name" I used and shortened my D&D characters name...

It pays to buy quality gear

I learned this lesson a long time ago. Cheap gear wears out fast and then you have to buy it again, so not so cheap. Over 40 years ago was tired of my hands getting cold and wet in the winter, so I got me a very nice pair of winter gloves (gauntlet Leather). I think I paid about $30 for them...

Anyone have a pic of an RT S2S backrest retaining clip fitted in position on the underside of the seat?

When I still had my stock seat, I found it was a real pain to put that clip on. Then I went to Corbin in Hollister and had a custom seat made. Since they use their own custom seat pan and it's all one piece, you cannot "lift" the front part and put the clip in place. I just slide my backrest in...

Can Am Spyders Resale value isn't great...

I agree about finding the best possible price when looking for a new ride. But like I said "resale" doesn't play into my decision. I've been riding for over 50 years (ya, and it has gone by quick). I tend to hold onto my bikes. I still have one I purchased in the early '80's . A 1976 KZ 900...

Can Am Spyders Resale value isn't great...

If you're thinking of "resale value" when purchasing any bike, then you probably shouldn't be buying one. With all the bikes I've bought over the years, NEVER have I been thinking about that at the time of the purchase. It's not a monetary investment, but rather, it's something that speaks to...

    Markleeville and back

I've been through Markleevile many Times. But have never stopped for lunch. I've heard they have a really good Deli there. Mainly because we had lunch in Walker on 395 at Walker Burger. We head over through Sonora pass (108), then back Ebbits (89)/Kit Carson (88) pass. Make for a great lunch...

Buying a new helmet - who replaces them every 5 years per manufacturers spec??

A few years back I saw a video that that was reviewing helmets. It brought up the 5 year life span of a helmet and that the clock starts ticking the day it's manufactured. It stated how important it is to know when the helmet was made which is printed in a "code" on the box.

I guess I'm just not a Twisties guy!

I have 1 riding buddy who I have been riding with for years (at least 30 years), to the point of when we are out I know exactly where he is, even without looking (he likes me to be in front, running point). Now the sad part is that he got married and his wife doesn't like him to go riding. His...

Buying a new helmet - who replaces them every 5 years per manufacturers spec??

I follow the "5 year recommendation", even though my helmets don't get dropped or have been in any type of accident. I live in Cali and summer riding with the sun and heat baking the helmet during the summer months. The helmet manufactures state the the heat breaks down the integrity of the...

New guy checking in - just picked up a new leftover '23 RT Limited.

I also still have my FJR. I got mine back in 2008 (purchased it new) when I retired as a retirement present to myself. It's an excellent ride, been on many long distance rides. But since I've developed arthritis in my hip, I've had to re-think what I can sit on for long periods of time. Giving...
