• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2020 RTL brake issue - it's eating rotors! HELP?

I'd put money on the shake returning. Read here...https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?80951-front-fender-shaking&p=1558185#post1558185

998cc Oil leak 2010 RT - any ideas where from?

It could well be leaking from the rubber hose to airbox connection on the left side of the bike. The oil hose hardens over time. The hose clip looses sealing pressure because the rubber settled and the airbox connector is just plastic and gives under pressure of the hose clip. The fix is to get...

    Tire wear issue

You may remember how I told you you would wear the outside edge of your right tyre because you need to steer left to counteract the effect of road camber. This causes the right side wheel to have excess left turn for the bike to run straight. Just to widen the discussion a little; there is two...

    New Spyder Owner Belt Life

Erm, no, that's a rear sprocket. The picture was given to clearly show the wear which takes place on a drive belt. There is a very obvious space between the teeth of the belt relative to the sprocket. It seems drive belt wear is variable bike to bike likely dependent on road conditions where one...

    New Spyder Owner Belt Life

Yes, I thought you might. There is nothing to disagree with, it's fact. The slipping was on the front sprocket and sounded pretty violent. The nylon lining is completely worn off the thrust side of the belt and the pattern on the teeth indicated they were bending when loaded.

    New Spyder Owner Belt Life

Maybe aye, maybe no.... Pic at 23k miles. At this point the belt would jump teeth under hard acceleration. I agree though a small hole in the middle(ish) of the belt is of little concern.

If there's no Red Dust, can it still be the front pulley?

I think you have several issues. Firstly, the red dust pulley issue doesn't normally affect the drive belt alignment so you have a drive belt or rear wheel alignment issue. Secondly, a worn front pulley wouldn't normally prevent you moving off unless it was completely stripped of its splines. Is...

    V-twin semi-auto vs. triple semi-auto

I've owned both. I currently have the 1330 but I'd happily go back to the V-twin, it's just a nicer, smoother motor. The 1330 engine is buzzier very noticeable each time you open the throttle from standstill, it can even buzz your helmet as you move away and, of course, it buzzes the drive belt...

    Drive Belt Change

Sorry, didn't find your thread until too late. You pretty much did all you needed to do but you could have saved a wee bit of time, I'll mention it here just incase someone else can use the info...once you got the main bolts slack on the aluminium side panel, the two bolts out of the top stay...

    Red Dust front sprocket

If pully sticks squirt down the splines with a release oil or kerosine or anything thin and oily. I tried levers, hammer and all sorts, finally gave it a skoosh of WD40 and went off for the puller, came back and off it slipped like magic - still amazed to this day how the rust dust wedges up...

Front Pulley R&R - can it be done without loosening belt tension?

If you look carefully you'll see the pictures of the belt rolling off are on an RT. You do have to get down to reach it though but I thought that would be a given.

Front Pulley R&R - can it be done without loosening belt tension?

PMK you normally talk sense but in this case you're not. The sprocket is rimless so there is no overloading of the belt when it rides over a rim, when the wheel hangs down the belt tension is released considerably and finally the belts are flexible! The compromising of the carbon fibre, well I...

Front Pulley R&R - can it be done without loosening belt tension?

The short and accurate answer is, yes. Release the hand brake and chock the wheels. Lift the rear of the bike on a jack, as the swing arm lowers it removes some of the tension from the belt. Pull outwards on the top of the belt and roll the rear wheel backwards to walk the belt off the rear...

Front Pulley R&R - can it be done without loosening belt tension?

It depends what you're asking...do you mean it's a difficult job for your expertise or the pulley won't easily slide off the shaft? If the pulley is tight on the shaft because it has red rust, skoosh some release oil down the spline - WD40 or similar - and it will likely slide right off. It's...

DIY laser alignment - correcting dealer foul up

I've separated this post from the previous one because it addresses the issue of aligning the front wheels to the rear wheel rather than aligning to the chassis centre line. Since when running along the road your rear wheel will steer the bike until the rear wheel is running in the direction of...
