• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any Modification recommendations from those who tour on their Spyders?

Airhawk and Wilda$$ air cushions have been my go-to on all my trips (2 x 6100 mi/13 day trips & countless multi-day, 500+ mi days). Once adjusted right, you ride on air until you lean into your turn and touch down for seat contact.

Newbie here - can I hook my Garmin directly to the battery? Is the Spring 2026 Android Update still coming?

True, the mini USB 5v can be used but it's not weather-proof or the intended power option. The preferred power is thru the Zumo mount that is 12v and allows removal of the Zumo without un-plugging the USB cable every time you take it off the bike.

Newbie here - can I hook my Garmin directly to the battery? Is the Spring 2026 Android Update still coming?

Your avatar is a 2020+ RT so you should have a 'GPS' wire under the right side panel. It's plugged into a dummy socket until needed. That wire is 'Key-on' 12v so no drain when ignition is off. If you plan to add more 12v items, use this wire to trigger a fuse box or a relay fused to the battery...

Any Modification recommendations from those who tour on their Spyders?

Extended trips can be a few days or weeks or months. - Cell coverage can be spotty in many areas of the USA so don't rely on internet mapping. Either download maps to your phone or get a dedicated GPS that uses satellites. - Don't over-pack! Do laundry as often as needed to re-use your street...

After 3 years of planning, I am riding Route 66 starting June 8

I plug my 595 into my PC, run Basecamp, and once the PC 'sees' the 595, I drag & drop my routes directly to the 595 'user data' folder that (should be) listed on the left border library. I don't know what the 396 connect capabilities are. Basecamp is at end of life but I still use it a lot. If...

Looking for new Comms - what do you use?

The Cardo Packtalk holds its charge all day (8+ hrs) even with constant mesh intercom between several riders. The Sena 50s only last till lunch and need to be charged while at lunch (even w/new batteries). If you regularly ride with a group, get what they use (unless they're not happy with...

NJ to the head of Rt66 in Chicago is ~12-14 hours (800 mi) of saddle time. It is doable in 1 day but your pace looks like you may need to plan a 2nd day to Chitown. BTW, I have that route all mapped in GPX segments if interested. You can drop in your POIs along the way.

Does anyone know of the amp draw of the stock horn on the RT? - 2012 RT

Best to install a relay driven from the OEM horn power and run the Wolo power directly to the battery thru a fuse.

Spyder decisions - any suggestions on what to buy as my first Spyder?

If you will be the primary rider, I think you'd be very happy with an newer model F3. It's fast, agile, and has the least tupperware to deal with.

I admit defeat - I now understand how dealers might charge $7-800.00 for a spark plug change!

I had the dealer do the 30k service (plugs incl.) after 5+ years of never being back since purchase. I'm 79 and I do all the regular maintenance and tires but saw the plugs as a challenge I didn't want to attempt. I paid $1000 for the service ($250 parts, $720 labor). So, I rationalized that as...

    Random thought for the day

And of course, when the opposite happens I'm sure they immediately lower their pump price. 😅😂🤣

Anyone purchased a helmet from Europe?

I bought my last 3 helmets (HJC fan) from Netherlands. Much cheaper for the exact same US lid and delivery within a week.

Do you Need better brakes coz stock discs are twisted?

2 year old thread revived! My 2020 RT had a warped right rotor after 1 year and 15k miles of spirited riding. I replaced both front rotors with EBC and only use EBC pads (incl. on all bikes since 2010). Replaced the EBC pads at 36k and have 44k trouble-free miles so far. YMMV.

When should you change your Spark Plugs?

I just had the '30k' service done on my '20 RT after 43k miles. I do the regular oil & filters, tires, & brakes maintenance myself, so first time to the dealer for service since purchase 5 1/2 yrs ago. $1000 laid out for plugs, filters, and flushes, yet I can't sense any difference in starting...
