Dr. Richard A. Hansen currently works for the Defense Logistics Information Service as the Chief, Logistics Data Taxonomy and Characteristics Integrity Branch. This office performs functions in support of the Federal Item Identification Guide (FIIG) program. They provide oversight and management for Characteristic edits guides, Federal Catalog System (FCS) taxonomy, Federal Supply Classification (FSC), Mass change, FIIG drawings and development. In addition this office provides Federal and DOD Program, Policy and Resource Management for the FCS and the Federal Logistics Information System (FLIS). Rich is retired Air Force with time spent at Myrtle Beach AFB, SC, Davis-Monthan AFB, Tucson, AZ and Michigan Air National Guard, Battle Creek, MI. In the Air Force he was a jet engine mechanic and instructor. During his military service he has received several awards and decorations such as the AF Achievement medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the AF Good Conduct Medal. Rich started with DLIS in 1998 and has been in Air Force cataloging and the training branch as an instructor. Dr. Hansen earned his Bachelor’s degree from Sienna Heights University in Public Service Administration in Aug 2003, his Masters Degree from Spring Arbor University in Organizational Management in Feb 2006, and his PhD from Capella University in Business General Organization and Management in Oct 2009. He has been happily married for 28 years to Emily with two boys Rich Jr. 28 and James 26 (forever 25, KIA 15 Sept 2010, Iraq).
