• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

998cc Can BRP aftermarket muffler be quiet?

I have a stock 08 muffler assembly that was only on the spyder a short time. Price will be very little if you pay to ship it.

It's just reflective tape on the fenders, and it's coming off!! Ideas?

Same problem. I just went to ACE hdwe and got some reflective tape strips and replaced the originals. It's easy to trim to size.

After suggestions on Cleaning black body parts?

I've been using Turtle Wax Trim Renew on all the matte finish. Very happy with it.

08 Spyder with loose play in the handlebar.

Thanks for your comments/advice. I also have an 09 Spyder and there is zero play in the bars and that was the reason for my concern. I'll just keep ryden on.

    Mesh jacket recommendations

I bought the cheapest mesh jacket from Cycle Gear. I think it was on sale for under $80. It has a removable liner and liteweight armor plating that is also removable. Pretty darned comfy in the summer and winter.

08 Spyder with loose play in the handlebar.

This left/right 2 or 3 degrees of play has got me baffled. There is no up or down movement of the handlebar and it rides straight. There is nothing loose about the tie rods or sway bar. I read somewhere that it could be the steering shaft is loose but now I can't revisit it. Has anyone had...

On/Off severe misfire due to one bad sparkplug on my 998.

I bet you're right. I tried pulling em off prior to taking it in but they seemed so stuck on that I figgered i'd tear em up.

On/Off severe misfire due to one bad sparkplug on my 998.

I never in a million years would have been able to diagnose this misfire as a bad plug. It would on and off again act like it was just putting along on one cylinder then accelerate like a rocket ship. I could barely control the ride while trying to deliver it for diagnosis and repair. I...

Mystery button under left side handlebar.

You would think the manual would have shown that. Nothing, nada, after reading it cover to cover.

Mystery button under left side handlebar.

Nothing. The previous owner must have removed them or the factory installed the switch but no lites. Thanks for the scoop.

Mystery button under left side handlebar.

Can't figure out the function/purpose of an on/off button switch located on top of the fairing or cowell just under the left handlebar end. A weathered decal that maybe looks like a cloud with streaks. I'll try to post a pic. Oops, it's on an 08 GSE5.

Possible trade my F3S for your Rally?

Hmmm, gonna have to explore the boards if the problem comes back. Thanks.

Possible trade my F3S for your Rally?

Hah ! Problem may be solved, me thinks. I started mounting the bike using the passenger peg for a step-up. Getting off the bike doesn't seem to cause a problem. Maybe these old hips and the f3 are gonna be around for a while.

    Peaceful Ride To Nowhere Today

The "back roads" part of the story gave me pause to rethink the best road trip of my life, albeit I was in a cage. Ten years ago I rented a hertz car in Oceanside, Ca. and traveled to Boston, via Key West. I had AAA draw me up a trip plan to avoid Freeways and tollroads for the entire journey...
