• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    I am now Spyderless

Pete, I too am getting the feeling that it will soon be time… Now in my 80’s, I notice that I’m riding fewer times per week, and no longer doing multiple day trips. As age increases riding decreases. Such is life. Take care!

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Being in my 80’s, I’m not as nimble as I once was. I rely on my dealer for maintenance work. The RTS was in the shop for the annual oil change, and while there, it was discovered that my brakes were operating steel on steel, so I had that repaired as well. Got the bike back home and then...

Anyone besides me slowing down to Prolong Rides?

I don’t find myself slowing down towards the end of a ride, but I do find that overall, I’m riding slower. In my younger years, I would think nothing of riding 150 - 160 km/hour and now that I’m in my 80’s, my preferred speed is 80 - 90 km/hour. I’m also now riding more on secondary highways...

What do you carry for Travel Snacks?

I may be wrong, but the way I see it, having snacks within easy reach spells DISTRACTED RYDING. You thinking/reaching for snacks means that for that moment, you’re not paying full attention to your ryding, and it only takes a moment!

1330 and Gas Mileage Review - What's yours? Anyone else tracking theirs?

I’ve been tracking the MPG on my '14 RT S since Day 1, and I average 35 - 36 MPG since I bought it in 2015. The wind does affect it, as well as the terrain, and definitely how hard you twist your wrist.

What do you carry for Travel Snacks?

The only thing that I carry religiously is a stainless water bottle. Bought on Amazon. I’m never in a hurry when I ride. I ride for the enjoyment, so if I get hungry, I stop at the next store/coffee shop. It’s probably time for a stop anyway.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

I agree wholeheartedly... I did read my manual, BUT, I only did 3,000 miles last year, we have mild winters and I park in the garage very night, so... I also don’t think this is the thread to start discussing the pro’s and con’s of when or how often. My post was more to let biker billionaire...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

I’m in the same boat. I have faithfully changed oil every year since I bought my RTS on 2015, but last year I put so few miles on, I am just riding without the oil change. I did check my oil level though. Bike is a 2014 model, so no problems re the warranty requirements.

    Paint question

some sweet little bird gave me the idea, but I have no idea where the birdie flew off to, but it was certainly a good idea. I love the way it looks.

    What happened???????????

Well, it took long enough, but just today, I had to re-log in. I thought that I was one of the lucky few, but....nope. Ahhh, the excitement caused using confusers...oops, computers.

    Paint question

Same for me, except I bought mine at Lordco, and I agree with Deanna on the color match.

Which is best for storage this winter?

I always use minimum 91 or 94. I put on roughly 6 to 8,000 miles per year. The difference in cost per year is less than $100.00 per year, and after spending 30,000 dollars for the machine, it’s cheap maintnance. jmho wtfdik

No new Farkles for me for long time

Deanna, good ideas as well as good messages from all of the others. Not much else can be said. Just remember always, that you know in your own heart, what you’re worthy of, and that positive thoughts will display itself in your endeavors, and will help you. I would wish you luck, but I do not...

    shifting

Rick H Can’t compare apples to apples, but I have a 2014 RTS-SE6, not an RT L, and when out today, I paid particular attention to mine while shifting and no, there is absolutely no hesitation when shifting....when I touch the shift lever the transmission immediately shifts.
