• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hope I'm not done riding my Spyder for the year?!

I did get out for a nice ride on November 1st. It was about 48°F, but with the heated gloves and a warm riding jacket, plus leather chaps over my jeans, I was fine for the 90 minute ride. But that 48° is getting close to my bottom temp for continuing riding. Right now, I look right on schedule...

Has anyone heard any rumors about a new 1600 engine for 2027 Spyders?

Maybe its just me but the 1330 engine in my 2021 RT seems just fine. I still can beat out most cars from a stoplight to get ahead of the traffic, I have no problem riding at 80+ on the Interstate, and I very rarely need or want to be going over the 105 mph that I have done with my RT. I rode 2...

There really are no alternatives to the Can Am reverse trikes

Before I bought my Spyder, in 2021, I looked into converting my Goldwing into a trike. It would have been a conventional trike, not a reverse trike. The cost would have been around $18,000 whereas I was able to trade in my 5 year old Goldwing plus $10,000 cash for a new Spyder. As much as I...

There really are no alternatives to the Can Am reverse trikes

I often hear people say that a convertible is their next step, but that really is a totally different experience. I have a Mini Cooper convertible, with a 6 speed manual transmission. It is a fun car to drive, and a real pleasure when the weather is just right. But it is nothing even remotely...

There really are no alternatives to the Can Am reverse trikes

I switched from two wheels (Honda Goldwing) to three (Spyder RT) four years ago and have never regretted doing so. Other than a bad sensor and a problem opening a side case, the RT has served me reliably. I don't plan on buying a new ride anytime soon, but was thinking about what else might be...

Hope I'm not done riding my Spyder for the year?!

It's not that I get too cold to ride, but when I have to keep the face shield of my helmet down, and I have to wear all the gear (including something over or under my jeans, which is normally all I wear on my lower body), the ride itself is just not as much fun. I know it is risky, but I live...

Hope I'm not done riding my Spyder for the year?!

I usually don't put the Sta-bil into the Spyder until at least mid November, but it has turned cold already here in North Central Illinois. It was 29 degrees when I got up this morning, and looks like it won't even hit 50° today. Having just treated myself to a new cold weather motorcycle...

I'm going a different route on my next set of front tires - trying these IOTA EVT (Standard's) instead!

I plan on just having the dealer put two new Kendas on my RT next Spring. Doesn't take much thought on my part.

Buying a new helmet - who replaces them every 5 years per manufacturers spec??

I've used helmets for far more than 5 years and never worried about it. I use my Shoei Neotec 2 when it gets colder, or if I were taking a long trip and knew that there was a good chance I'd be riding in the rain. But most of the time I use my LS2 Copter, a 3/4 helmet that was very, very...

20,000 miles and still have OEM front tires

I don't know if I am unusual, but my 2021 RT has 20,000 miles, and while I had the rear tire replaced at about 17,000 miles, the front two still look and ride fine. I read about how unhappy so many are with the stock Kenda tires, but I have no reason to even try to find anything else when I will...

I've gone from ATGATT to H (just Helmet).

Yesterday was heating up and I decided to go out for a short ride of about an hour on local country roads. I had just walked my dogs and decided to ride before taking a shower, so I went out again in shorts, sneakers, and a t-shirt. I did put on my 3/4 helmet and fingerless gloves. This...

I've gone from ATGATT to H (just Helmet).

I've been riding motorcycles for over 40 years, and for most of those years I was an ATGATT guy (All the gear, all the time). Especially when I was an MSF Instructor (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) I felt a personal obligation to never be seen with less protective gear than what I recommended to...

So what was the last year of RT's with the big rear end, and the first year they had the same trunk as the F3L?

When I bought my Spyder in the summer of 2021, my initial thought was to buy an RTL. But when I looked into the differences between the base RT and the RTL, I found that there were only two real differences: heated seats, and the rear trunk. I hate the feel of heated seats, and did not think the...

I HATE Vapor recovery (ECO) gasoline pump nozzles! Is this just "my issue" only? Anyone else? What do you do to avoid this?

I use Costco almost exclusively for my three cars, but not for my Spyder. I found a local gas station where one specific pump allows me to add gas at a low velocity. After it clicks off, normally with at least a gallon of capacity not filled, I can add gas gently until it fills all the way up to...
