• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    First Ride of the Season

Even though I have a garage, I used to cover my bike for the winter months. Now I do not bother doing so. I have the FOBO2 TPMS system on the three wheels, so I checked the tire pressure by looking at the app on my phone. The three tires have all lost a bit of air since I added air before last...

    First Ride of the Season

Yesterday was a real anomaly: mid 70's and bright blue skies. I had been thinking that I was still several weeks away from taking the RT out of the garage but it was too beautiful an opportunity to pass up. So even though I am only 4 weeks since my knee revision surgery, and using a cane for...

    I got another New Helmet!

One of the biggest problems with picking the best helmet for oneself is that there are few if any places where a rider can try on various brands and models and try to figure out what works for him or her. Years ago I would attend the annual International Motorcycle Show held every early February...

Had a chance to take a ride with Abe Lincoln

Last summer I had a chance to ride with Abe, but some will suspect that the photo is AI. Even Abe said not to trust everything you see on the internet.

No more motorcycle magazines for me...

This is not about the dissappearnce of printed magazines, although that is undoubtedly true. I used to get seven different motorcycle magazines in my mailbox, and while they often covered the same material, they kept me connected to motorcycling during the months of winter when I was not riding...

Annoyingly, my '21 RTL will only cancel Cruise by touching the brake pedal or downshifting - are there any other ways?

When I bought my 2021 RT, I turned the cruise control to the on position on my first ride and I have never turned it off. I use cruise control all the time to take pressure off of my arthritic hand. Normally, if I want to end the cruise control I just tap the brake, and have never found that a...

Forever mystified by Can Am's lack of style...

When I bought my 2021 RT, the only one available at the dealership was the metallic blue. I would have preferred white or bright yellow, but the color was not an important feature for me. I am surprised at how often I get comments about people really liking this color. I did have a chance to...

It pays to buy quality gear

Finally accepting that my riding is done for the season, I took my two most often worn helmets out of the garage and put them on the shelf in my "riding" closet. I tend to hold on to gear even if I don't use it much, or at all anymore but just am not ready to part with the item. So the closet...

I've gone from ATGATT to H (just Helmet).

Hope I'm not done riding my Spyder for the year?!

8 inches of snow on the ground. I think it is officially winter. Why am I still living here?

Hope I'm not done riding my Spyder for the year?!

The last few days here in Northern Illinois have been wet and cold, with high temps around 40°. I still haven't prepared the Spyder for the winter, and I'm still hopeful that we will yet have a warm day or two before we reach December. But having had the chance for two nice, long rides on...

Deer collision - safer on a Spyder? Thoughts? Or first-hand accounts?

I agree with others who have stated that the mass of the Spyder versus a typical two wheeler would be somewhat helpful in a deer/bike collision, but short of wearing an airbag jacket I doubt that there would be any way of avoiding likely injury. However, not riding at dusk, dawn or in the dark...

Blue Skies, dry roads, and 70° - Great Spyder Ride! If this is "global warming", bring it on!

I know that many do an oil change before putting it away for the winter, but I have always waited until Spring and had the oil change then. Been doing this for about 40 years without any problem. Putting the Spyder away for me means just adding Stabil to the tank, and a rag stuck in the tail...

Blue Skies, dry roads, and 70° - Great Spyder Ride! If this is "global warming", bring it on!

Good luck with the new bike. After I bought my Spyder RT, I thought that I would truly miss the two wheel experience, so I bought a new Royal Enfield Hunter 350. It was a fun little bike, but in hindsight, I was frustrated with the lack of power and low top end speed possible. But the bigger...

Blue Skies, dry roads, and 70° - Great Spyder Ride! If this is "global warming", bring it on!

Earlier this week, here in Northern Illinois, we had some temps in the 20's and more than a dusting of new snow. I was ready to put Stabil into the RT and say goodbye for the winter. But I decided to wait before taking that drastic step. Today it was almost 70! With blue skies and dry roads...
