• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hope I'm not done riding my Spyder for the year?!

8 inches of snow on the ground. I think it is officially winter. Why am I still living here?

Hope I'm not done riding my Spyder for the year?!

The last few days here in Northern Illinois have been wet and cold, with high temps around 40°. I still haven't prepared the Spyder for the winter, and I'm still hopeful that we will yet have a warm day or two before we reach December. But having had the chance for two nice, long rides on...

Deer collision - safer on a Spyder? Thoughts? Or first-hand accounts?

I agree with others who have stated that the mass of the Spyder versus a typical two wheeler would be somewhat helpful in a deer/bike collision, but short of wearing an airbag jacket I doubt that there would be any way of avoiding likely injury. However, not riding at dusk, dawn or in the dark...

Blue Skies, dry roads, and 70° - Great Spyder Ride! If this is "global warming", bring it on!

I know that many do an oil change before putting it away for the winter, but I have always waited until Spring and had the oil change then. Been doing this for about 40 years without any problem. Putting the Spyder away for me means just adding Stabil to the tank, and a rag stuck in the tail...

Blue Skies, dry roads, and 70° - Great Spyder Ride! If this is "global warming", bring it on!

Good luck with the new bike. After I bought my Spyder RT, I thought that I would truly miss the two wheel experience, so I bought a new Royal Enfield Hunter 350. It was a fun little bike, but in hindsight, I was frustrated with the lack of power and low top end speed possible. But the bigger...

Blue Skies, dry roads, and 70° - Great Spyder Ride! If this is "global warming", bring it on!

Earlier this week, here in Northern Illinois, we had some temps in the 20's and more than a dusting of new snow. I was ready to put Stabil into the RT and say goodbye for the winter. But I decided to wait before taking that drastic step. Today it was almost 70! With blue skies and dry roads...

Hope I'm not done riding my Spyder for the year?!

I did get out for a nice ride on November 1st. It was about 48°F, but with the heated gloves and a warm riding jacket, plus leather chaps over my jeans, I was fine for the 90 minute ride. But that 48° is getting close to my bottom temp for continuing riding. Right now, I look right on schedule...

Has anyone heard any rumors about a new 1600 engine for 2027 Spyders?

Maybe its just me but the 1330 engine in my 2021 RT seems just fine. I still can beat out most cars from a stoplight to get ahead of the traffic, I have no problem riding at 80+ on the Interstate, and I very rarely need or want to be going over the 105 mph that I have done with my RT. I rode 2...

There really are no alternatives to the Can Am reverse trikes

Before I bought my Spyder, in 2021, I looked into converting my Goldwing into a trike. It would have been a conventional trike, not a reverse trike. The cost would have been around $18,000 whereas I was able to trade in my 5 year old Goldwing plus $10,000 cash for a new Spyder. As much as I...

There really are no alternatives to the Can Am reverse trikes

I often hear people say that a convertible is their next step, but that really is a totally different experience. I have a Mini Cooper convertible, with a 6 speed manual transmission. It is a fun car to drive, and a real pleasure when the weather is just right. But it is nothing even remotely...

There really are no alternatives to the Can Am reverse trikes

I switched from two wheels (Honda Goldwing) to three (Spyder RT) four years ago and have never regretted doing so. Other than a bad sensor and a problem opening a side case, the RT has served me reliably. I don't plan on buying a new ride anytime soon, but was thinking about what else might be...

Hope I'm not done riding my Spyder for the year?!

It's not that I get too cold to ride, but when I have to keep the face shield of my helmet down, and I have to wear all the gear (including something over or under my jeans, which is normally all I wear on my lower body), the ride itself is just not as much fun. I know it is risky, but I live...

Hope I'm not done riding my Spyder for the year?!

I usually don't put the Sta-bil into the Spyder until at least mid November, but it has turned cold already here in North Central Illinois. It was 29 degrees when I got up this morning, and looks like it won't even hit 50° today. Having just treated myself to a new cold weather motorcycle...

I'm going a different route on my next set of front tires - trying these IOTA EVT (Standard's) instead!

I plan on just having the dealer put two new Kendas on my RT next Spring. Doesn't take much thought on my part.

Buying a new helmet - who replaces them every 5 years per manufacturers spec??

I've used helmets for far more than 5 years and never worried about it. I use my Shoei Neotec 2 when it gets colder, or if I were taking a long trip and knew that there was a good chance I'd be riding in the rain. But most of the time I use my LS2 Copter, a 3/4 helmet that was very, very...
