• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Looking for new Comms - what do you use?

Okay, I think I got confused because you had said in a previous post "My current com, which is a U Clear Motion 4, works better in the cold weather (I still use it when I'm on my snowmobile)". but maybe you had intended to say Uclear Motion 6 (which is what you had said in an earlier post you...

300 miles in temps over 105 with low humidity ... dangerous

Thank you, Lew and Paul, I appreciate you both. One of my fondest memories is when we all met up in Fairview(?) for lunch. That's when Jane had trouble with her Spyder ignition that had us flummoxed for a while.

300 miles in temps over 105 with low humidity ... dangerous

Lew, it was NEVER my intent for this to be a discussion about climate change. My intent was to provide a ride report and describe the horrendously hot and dangerous conditions that we barely survived. I see no value here in attributing blame or causation to this warming world, only in...

Trailer hitch removal - can I just slide out the hitch thru-bolt without causing issues - 2022 RT Limited?

I have a 2014 RTL with a hitch. I use trailers extensively with any vehicle I have, even including a 1985 BMW 318i because I can do so many more things with a trailer than just the vehicle alone (even with extensive use of roof racks). So, it was a natural for me in buying a long-legged touring...

Any time limit on changing HCM filter during oil change? Is a 10 y/o filter good for a few more years?

I asked Google what an HCM filter is and Google says the following (note the kudos to BajaRon in the last paragraph) An HCM (Hydraulic Control Module) filter on a Can-Am Spyder (https://www.google.com/search?q=can-am+spyder&kgmid=/m/05s_m87) is a specialized secondary transmission oil filter...

Brake pedal is firm on starting, soft after moving - dealer says it's OK! Anyone else?

Per OP "I have replaced the pads on all 3 wheels and bled the system including the VCM several times".

    Well, that's useful to know.

How to gear up to ride comfortably and safely in really hot weather?

I learned that clothing next to the skin, such as pants particularly, have to be cotton; synthetics, even light-colored ones, tend to transmit the intense sun rays right through with painful consequences. Synthetic mesh outer layers don't do that, but they do evaporate skin moisture very...

Looking for new Comms - what do you use?

The direct replacement for the discontinued UCLEAR Motion 4 Lite is the UCLEAR Motion 6, which steps up to support up to six riders in a mesh network and adds gesture controls. That's disappointing. What happened to nice, simple comms? I don't need to communicate with other bikes.

Another old thread that seems au current.

300 miles in temps over 105 with low humidity ... dangerous

I just came across this thread from 5 years ago when extreme heat seemed abnormal. Now that it's more commonplace (as in ALL this past summer), what, if any, changes have any of you made to planning, riding gear, riding tactics, etc?

Anyone else watching Star Trek - Strange New Worlds?

I feel like I'm already living in a strange new world - and it ain't a musical! Anyway, I've not seen it but would like to. Where does it stream?

    Random thought for the day

I would go so far as to say that some have raised deliberate deception to an art form, and do it so compulsively and so naturally that it gives them a strategic advantage over everyone else.
