• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

First time ride on my Spyder today - I think I'm gonna like it!

If you want quiet and less people not far from Phoenix, try the itty bitty nothing town of Congress. A dollar Store, a gas station, laundromat, Post office, pub, small hardware store, and..... ummmmm... a tiny library and a school. Best part is, it's on AZ89, which goes from there all the way...

What did you do to/with your Spyder today?

Removed the critter/rodent proof panel across the opening in the covered area where I park the Spyder for the summer, or when we are gone for any length of time. Riding season has returned after the blistering hot Arizona Summer. Going to have to be very careful removing the cover, because along...

Service Shock - just about had a heart attack at the bill!

Sometime it's easier to grit one's teeth and write the check. Me, if I can do it myself, I will continue to do so. I have ramps, a jack for the back, and a safety stand for the rear. Doesn't really take long at all to get the bike in the air high enough. I have a motorcycle lift that I used on...

What can I do to get a straight shot at the Rear Tire valve Stem?

I think Peter hit one nail on the head. I've been a member of motorcycle forums, RV forums, Sport car forums, and yes, even a Spyder forum, and tire pressure threads can get as wild as oil threads with a surprising number of people waaaaaaay overthinking it. Some go nuts and check and adjust...

Has anyone found good Hand/Wind protectors for late model RT-L's? Any thoughts/suggestions?

Hippo Hands? None for the Spyder listed on their site, but you could try sending them an email.

    Conventional vs Reverse Trike Discussion

Wow, that picture of that red trike brought back memories as did how easily they tipped. Here's Daredevil me with my first trike circa 1959. Who cares about physics and stability? Oh, gee, looks I dressed a lot nicer back then too. Ok, kids. Do not try this trick on your Spyder at home.

Are people throwing better shocks at their trike first, instead of better tires?

I'm traveling right now so can't confirm the size of my Vredesteins, but I tried to pick the same size as the originals or as close as I could. I've tried different pressures - 17 -20psi. Similar with the rear tire. At first I chalked it up to new tires maybe being a little slick from...

Are people throwing better shocks at their trike first, instead of better tires?

I purchased my 2020 RTL used and it was stock except for the fairly new Altimax on the rear. Front tires were orginal, and were pretty worn out so my first "upgrade" was Vredesteins for the front. One thing I have found is when doing spirited riding in the curves, I get a little more sliding of...

Interesting oil test report. What say you?

Thanks Peter. Your answers were just fine and are helpful. With 21k on the clock, I wondered about the possibility the engine was still wearing in. While I have the original owner's records, what I don't know is how the bike was ridden. If I recall correctly, the bike only had about 12K on the...

Interesting oil test report. What say you?

For the first time, I sent my 2020 RTL's engine oil off to Blackstone for a report. It's my third oil change since getting the bike used. Current bike mileage is 21,000 miles. Factory filters on each change. On my bikes, I have historically aged out my oils before recommended mileage change out...

What did you do to/with your Spyder today?

Installed my two Christmas presents - A Baja Ron's Ultimate Sway bar, and TricLED rear side marker LED reflector kit. I'm very happy with both upgrades and ironically, installing the side markers was the most time consuming due to the steps required to access the rear tail light harness. Pretty...

My first impressions of the 2023 Spyder RTL

I usually raise the windshield when she's on the back. She doesn't describe it as buffeting, that was my term. Rather, she'll ask me if it's windy, because she feels the bike moving slightly from side to side. She's especially likely to ask if the road pavement isn't very good, and the front...

Deer collision - safer on a Spyder? Thoughts? Or first-hand accounts?

I think there's too many factors involved to say for sure. Logic would predict one advantage is three wheels, as well as the Spyder's greater mass, but hit a deer one day, and survive, doesn't predict that if you hit a deer another day you will also survive. The size of the deer, where you hit...

My first impressions of the 2023 Spyder RTL

I'll offer a different take on the issue. Besides some type of mechanical or riding style causes, I believe that what many new Spyder riders describe as twitching is simply the fact the any fine lateral movements translate directly into the bike moving in a lateral horizontal plane which...

When Only On Street Angled Parking is available, do you back in, or drive in?

Two wheels, always back in, Spyder, nose in.

What did you do to/with your Spyder today?

Put it to bed for the summer. Not a fan of riding in Arizona's triple digit temps, besides, we're heading off for a couple/three months of camping and traveling in our trailer. Riding season will be starting when we return.

Ever driven your Spyder onto a ferry?

https://dot.alaska.gov/amhs/policies.shtml Under motorcycles, it says the owner is responsible for carrying proper tiedowns. Like with so many rules and procedures, often the interpretation of a rule changes depending on who's enforcing it at the time. I can see some ferry workers understanding...

What did you do to/with your Spyder today?

Just installed a Sykik TPMS. Placed the little display on my left handlebar. I've used this brand on my motorhome and they work well. Biggest complaint people have, and I agree, is the vehicle and wheels are displayed in a fainter blue, which makes it difficult to read in bright light. For the...

    To Wenatchee and back.

That's a nice ride and it's nice you didn't get a lot of wind. The wind can really sail down those canyons. Had a couple white knuckle rides on two wheels crossing the bridge at Vantage. Lots of beautiful country on the East side.
