• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

CarPlay Froze, then entire Head Unit Froze Up While Riding, then supposedly updated and rebooted on the Highway - Anyone else had this happen?

So I was on the highway today, and the CarPlay display froze up. It's happened a few times before, but usually within 30 seconds or so of starting up. This was 20 minutes into a highway ride. No biggie, I figured I'd switch over to the normal gauge display for a bit. Then the entire screen froze...

BRP Connect Ver 4.1 is now available

CarPlay won't be available without seeing a BlueTooth headset (or microphone at least). I am pretty sure I was able to send the audio to the Spyder speakers before with ACP, as long as I had the headset working. I will try it again later after upgrading to 4.1

Apple CarPlay - the good, the bad, and the really ugly

Knock on wood, but my ACP has been working pretty well. Had to get a new headset, since my older Cardo was BT 4.x and was useless. Since I got a cheap Gearelec headset, ACP works pretty nicely. I have had one or two occasions where ACP "froze up" about 30 seconds after it connected. Had to shut...

Totally bonkers 'Miles to empty' on 2020+ Spyder - can it be fixed?

If it's like most automobiles, the DTE is calculated based on MPG over the last N miles, like 10-20 or so. Then multiplied by estimated gallons left, with a conservative cushion in there. If you pull straight off the highway your DTE will probably much higher than if you were drag racing light...

Anyone else have or know what this Front end banging/clanking noise might be?

Next time I have it out I'll try to get an outboard pic. The bolt that goes through that bushing are what I would consider pretty tight on both sides. So far tightening down the arm Hex bolt to 180 in/lb seems to have done the trick. I took it out and it hasn't made any unusual noises now and...

Anyone else have or know what this Front end banging/clanking noise might be?

Here's a pic of the lower part of the bushing. There is a definite pronounced bulge there. The right side looks about the same. I put my digital torque wrench on the hex arm bolts at 180 in/pounds and they were definitely not there. I ran both sides up to 180. And on my initial test, the noise...

Anyone else have or know what this Front end banging/clanking noise might be?

OK, I'll try to get a pic of that area tomorrow. Is the gap at the top of the bushing "normal" anyway? I don't recall if the instructions had an actual torque value for the arm bolts, but as I remember they were pretty tight. I'll throw a torque wrench on them too and make sure they're good...

Anyone else have or know what this Front end banging/clanking noise might be?

You mention the slit where the bolt goes through. The lower half of the bushing, where the bolt hole is, is already closed? The top of the bushing is where the slit is but the pressure from the bolt would be more towards the bottom. Mine are installed as shown below, with the slit facing up...

Anyone else have or know what this Front end banging/clanking noise might be?

I tightened them as much as I felt comfortable tightening them for fear of over-torquing them since I didn't want to snap the bolt. I guess there's no hard and fast torque value for this bolt and it's more of a visual check kind of thing? Do you have any pictures on your web site maybe of the...

Anyone else have or know what this Front end banging/clanking noise might be?

That does appear to be it. Sound/vibration definitely seems to be coming from driver side sway bar bushing when someone rocks the bike and I'm under it. I will re-check the bushing and tightness of the bolts. According to the guy in the video no amount of tightening will stop this, so we'll see...

Anyone else have or know what this Front end banging/clanking noise might be?

Thanks @BajaRon! Yes, I installed it myself and was careful to follow the instructions to the letter. Visually everything looked good to me, but I will check all the bolts too. I guess the first thing is to see if the source of the sound is the bushing or not, then go from there.

Anyone else have or know what this Front end banging/clanking noise might be?

Thanks! I will try having someone rock the bike while I monitor those bushings to see if that's the culprit.

Anyone else have or know what this Front end banging/clanking noise might be?

I'll double check, but the sound really sounds like it's coming from up higher in the front end. I do have the Ultra sway bar.

There's nothing in the frunk. It really sounds like metal on metal.

Anyone else have or know what this Front end banging/clanking noise might be?

When I get on the bike (2024 RT, 3,000 miles), or rock it side to side, there's a bang/clank noise from somewhere in the front end. I have the Baja Ron sway bar, but the noise isn't coming from that. It feels like it's from the top of the shock tower, or maybe the top of the A-arms. I put a...

Spyder Apple Carplay won't work without a headset! Any luck in getting BRP to address this safety & inconvenient issue?

Yeah all modern cars have a microphone in place already for hands-free calling via Bluetooth, and for CarPlay/Android Auto. I think all motorcycle-based CarPlay implementations also require a microphone be present before you can use it.

What CarPlay compatible app are you using to plan your routes?

Both Apple and Google maps let you download offline maps. I have done this with Apple Maps for all the mountainous areas near me. That way if you're out of cell coverage you still have maps. What you cannot do is start a new navigation route though if you're in one of these areas. But it works...

Spyder Apple Carplay won't work without a headset! Any luck in getting BRP to address this safety & inconvenient issue?

Pretty sure the microphone requirement is from Apple. That's kind of the point of CarPlay, to be able to use your voice with Siri rather than poking at a screen. That said, I did purchase a USB powered Bluetooth hands-free adapter for the car. It is enough to get CarPlay working. I keep it in...

What Budget Comms Systems are available/do you like?

Since this is about budget systems, I like the Gearelec GX12 I got from Amazon. It's well under $100. Works flawlessly with 2024 Spyder RT and CarPlay, and intercom works fine between my wife and I. I do not care about mesh with other riders so that wasn't a consideration. The music sounds way...

What, if any, differences or improvements are there on 2024 Spyders over earlier?

No. The hang tag implied it may be coming in the future but have heard no more about it since then.
