• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

1330cc 2015 RT SM6 Burning Oil - what are the possible causes?

wcntech -- my question about spark plug insulator discoloration was for the portion outside the combustion chamber. The part inside is of course discolored, which you had stated before. My concern was leakage from the CC due to a break in the seal which could be caused by the CC-side insulator...

1330cc 2015 RT SM6 Burning Oil - what are the possible causes?

I'm not liking this. Three 2015 F3s with funky middle spark plug issues and now a 2015 RT.

1330cc 2015 RT SM6 Burning Oil - what are the possible causes?

When did you first notice the oil burning symptoms? Was it gradual or rapid onset? Were there any significant riding events (eg dust storm, very hot day, long-term storage, etc)? How many bars on the temperature gauge? Do the radiator fans operate normally and are temperatures the same at the...

    2015 F3-S jerking while riding

    What's up with the 2015 F3 1330cc spark plugs? jpbohmann -- 2015 F3-S 8K miles -- running on 2 cylinders; replaced spark plugs juscuz -- 2015 F3-S 30K miles -- loose plug; replaced spark plugs and coils (also cleaned and re-oiled K&N air filter) juscuz neighbor -- 2015 F3 2K miles -- unknown...

    2015 F3-S jerking while riding

You are doing something wrong if the plugs had to be replaced at 8K miles. Ask your dealer what it is.

    2015 F3-S jerking while riding

I'm with PMK. Your symptoms description make it seem the engine is running smoothly but something in the remainder of the drivetrain isn't functioning properly. If it isn't the pulley, change the oil as the HCM might not be providing the pressure needed to engage the clutch. And next time...

Anyone using these Antigravity ReStart Lithium Ion Batteries? Opinions?

I use a Shorai motorsports battery which, like the Antigravity, is LifePo4 chemistry. LifePo4 cranking and storage performance is lower than Lithium-Ion batteries but it's safer fire- and leakage-wise than your Spyder's SLA battery. The Antigravity is compatible with your Spyder's charging...

Cruise Control Headache (RTS) - Goes ON, but will not engage! Any ideas?

The ECM is essentially a tailored computer operating at computer speeds performing among other tasks sampling its analog and digital inputs. The brake switch is a digital input operating at mechanical speeds. From the perspective of the ECM brake switch closure is multiple digital signals as the...

Thinking about buying a Can Am - looking for advice??

Concur with DickB -- Spyder. If you will be riding 2-up road trips then the 1330cc 3-cylinder is the better choice over the 998cc 2-cylinder (both a good engines but you will have to spin the 998cc pretty high to avoid being a road hazard). Definitely ask your dealer if they service Spyders...

Horn Don't Beep! Fuse is good, any other suggestions?

Mikey and BajaRon are correct: most likely the horn button is damaged or the horn compressor failed. (1) Quick fuse validation: are your foglights or ACS functional (engine must be running)? (2) Quick horn button validation: plug in your original Spyder horn; when you push the horn button...

Cruise Control Headache (RTS) - Goes ON, but will not engage! Any ideas?

Based on your symptoms so far (was working, no change when flasher disconnected) the most likely cause is a sticking brake switch as noted above. The switch is an SPST N-O microswitch which provides +12V to both the ECM and the brake lights. The brake lights (and taillights) are LEDs so...

Cruise Control Headache (RTS) - Goes ON, but will not engage! Any ideas?

Two questions: (1) has cruise control ever worked? (2) can you have someone follow you to confirm the Spyder brake lights are operating properly?

Cruise Control Headache (RTS) - Goes ON, but will not engage! Any ideas?

If you do isolate the brake flasher as the source of the problem (and you probably will) then read this thread: https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?154541-Is-the-ST2-Flashing-Brake-Light-System-Plug-n-play-on-2020-RT Note that Cleg seems to be successful using the flasher, so...

Horn Don't Beep! Fuse is good, any other suggestions?

A multimeter probably isn't needed but it's always good to have one and know how to use it. One problem using a multimeter in these circumstances (horn working for several years and then not working) is probing with a multimeter sometimes fixes the connection problem ... except you don't know...

Horn Don't Beep! Fuse is good, any other suggestions?

Okay found instructions for the Wolo Bad Boy 419 and 519 https://wolo-mfg.com/media/wysiwyg/pdfs/replacement_horns/419_english_3-23.pdf You can use the horn as direct replacement for the original if your heated grips are off and your foglights are LEDs (which they should be). Otherwise...

Horn Don't Beep! Fuse is good, any other suggestions?

sandee--one of the many nice things about this forum is they don't charge by word count. Nor for posting pictures. Use more of both. Wolo => internet search => horn. Got it. Like Peter said which one? The horn circuit, by Federal law, is always-on. That is, like the brake light, it must...

Is removing 1330 Water pump simple? How to drain/bleed coolant?

BTT was absorbed into Mahle. Mahle has an excellent website to search for replacement parts. That 54mm diameter BTT thermostat would be in the Mahle TX 1x 80D series of thermostats. Except it isn't. None of them have the vent hole. So our thermostat is a BRP/Rotax specific part integrated...

    Downshifting vs Braking

Try spinning the engine a bit faster. In my mountains I mostly stay in 4th with downshift to 3rd or 2nd as needed keeping the RPM between 4-7K. The 1330cc engine is just such a sweetie and it loves to run high. Baja Ron has some cures for that. And excellent technical support.

    Downshifting vs Braking

Along the lines BajaRon indicated, I observed a marked "knee" of about 5 psi drop at around 3K+ for both BRP and Lamonster products. This is a 90K Spyder in SoCal. Due to the age of the machine and I believe the original owner's (I'm the 3rd) extensive touring with a trailer, I'm using Motul...
