• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Found another place for pure gas

Putting Ethanol in gasoline has never been about price. The price of gasoline with alcohol in it would be higher than pure gasoline were it not for government incentives and subsidies. Some people believe it contributes to fossil fuel conservation. Others believe it improves the environmental...

Final word on 1330 oil changes

Here is the thing. If I want to improve the suspension system of my Spyder, I can buy a Ron bar with confidence because there are people who have bought them that I trust and they recommend them. If I install one, I can feel the difference for myself in a matter of minutes. On the other hand, if...

    Crusade or Holocaust?

Just keep in mind that prior to the German invasion of France, they believed they had the best trained and best equipped army on earth. Maybe they did. Obviously, Hitler didn't get the message.

Final word on 1330 oil changes

First of all, I am not trying to say that these companies put out erroneous test results. My experience has been that their results are accurate and repeatable. What i am saying is that for most people, they are irrelevant. Trucking and heavy equipment companies use oil tests to determine how...

Final word on 1330 oil changes

If the truth about engines and oil changes were known, few people would give these companies any money and most would go out of business. There is a place for this kind of analysis but I don't think it tells the average driver/rider anything useful.

Final word on 1330 oil changes

Why would I trust the advice of an oil test company, which has a huge motivation to find something wrong, instead of the company that manufactured the vehicle in the first place and has a strong motivation to advise people on how to make their vehicle last? The issue isn't whether there is...

    Communications

I used to use Scala Riders but the batteries died after 2 years and the company made no provisions to replace them. They may have improved them since then but once is enough for me. I now use Sena SMH-10s and they sound better and the headset has better range.

I am talking about confiscating the vehicle in addition to the normal DUI punishment.

    It's 2015 - no Bluetooth?

I think the originator of this thread does have a point. For the amount of money we pay for these rides, fully integrated bluetooth should be standard. The design of the RT-S electronics, which is all I am familiar with, is crude and leaves much to be desired. The official Can Am add-on is...

today i learned something about DWI in NYS

My idea is if someone is convicted of driving after drinking or smoking Colorado's finest, the vehicle should be confiscated and sold. The owner of the vehicle, whoever that might be, would still be stuck paying off any loans. Pretty soon, the offending driver would run out of vehicles to drive...

    Spyder population

I don't know about nationwide, but Spyder sales in the Southeast have grown at a rate much, much higher than 15%. You can see it in the number of dealers and the percentage of their floor space devoted to Can Am as opposed to Honda or Yamaha. You can see it in the number of late model Spyders on...

Looking for O2 sensor Bypass for a '10 RS

What are you trying to accomplish? Are you wanting to trick out the engine control computer so the engine will run rich? If the controller on the Spyder engine behaves anything like typical car engines, it is going to be looking for changes in the O2 sensor output voltage and it will fault out...

Looking for Opinions on a Hitch

The Can Am accessory website lists $500 as the MSRP for the one that fits the 2014 RT. It includes the plug-n-play wiring harness. I Have seen them cheaper by about $50 but I can't find where at the moment. Check eBay.

    E087 GAS

I have never had any trouble finding ethanol free gasoline here in North Alabama. I just have to hunt a little. They charge a premium for it though. I don't use it because I don't think there is very much difference one way or the other. Engine manufacturers have now had decades to design their...

    Wing Ding 2015

I haven't been to Wing Ding, but I used to go to Wings Over the Smokies every year. I think I would like to go to a Spyder enthusiast gathering since I don't own a Wing any more.

    I Traded My Spyder

I agree that the ST1300 is dated but it is still best in class in my opinion. At one time I tried them all and I owned a Concours for several years. You will notice I didn't mention the BMW R1200RT. My opinion is that it uses dated engine technology, no matter how many other high tech bells and...
