• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Does ECO mode actually effect throttling?

The power is soft in ECO mode -- always. The little green shift light has nothing to do with that. That is an unrelated fuel economy feature that tries to control the rider, not the Spyder. We are talking about how rapidly the engine responds to a particular throttle position within a particular...

Does ECO mode actually effect throttling?

Of course, the engine controller knows where the throttle is any time the engine is running, ECO mode or not. What you highlighted refers to the behavior of the little green shift light, not the throttle response. What I was trying to say is the engine controller does not drop the engine out of...

Does ECO mode actually effect throttling?

With regard to the 2014 RT, there is a brief but informative explanation of how ECO works. It is silly to just speculate on such things when you can read about it from the manufacturer.

    Recap of 2014 RT Problems

I used to design and build automotive electronics for a living. When I started, we were measuring defects in conditions per hundred vehicles. 25 years later, we were measuring defects in parts per million. We built electronic control products that had a failure rate of better than 1 in 5,000. I...

Does ECO mode actually effect throttling?

Just curious I have seen throttle response curves from BRP published on this very website and at least for the 2014 RT, it does indeed affect throttle response and power throughout the whole RPM range. It reduces the response by what looked to me like about one third. The behavior of ECO mode...

    Lateral Force on the Passenger

My wife adapted quite easily after several years on the back of a Goldwing. She and I just lean to the inside like we always did and that cancels some of the centrifugal force. Holding on to the passenger grips takes care of the rest. I do have one concern that i would appreciate opinions on. I...

    I Traded My Spyder

If I rode only by myself, I wouldn't ride a Spyder either. It really doesn't matter what you do to the design. A three wheeler is never going to perform like a sport tourer. Heck, my RT doesn't even come close to the performance of a Goldwing. If it were shopping for a personal bike, I would...

They look cool but are they easy to steer? I hope the thing has power steering.

    Is facebook replacing Spyderlovers ?

Internet forums are not public. They are privately owned and managed by owners and sponsors. They have a right to control what is said and by whom. If I were the owner of this forum and I read what FLASpydergirl said about me, I would certainly ban her forever. Her comments put me off and I am...

    F3 Honda Copy

I am not very interested in any three wheeled vehicle that was not designed to be that in the first place. I sold a perfectly good late model Goldwing that I could have triked for much less money in order to buy the Spyder.

Does anyone know if there is still a REV limit on the F3 ? ~ Top speed?

BRP might adjust the rev limiter slightly if the engine is updated but there is no way that they will eliminate it. That is just begging for unnecessary engine warranty repairs. It would be worthwhile for those who wish for a higher RPM limit to study the engine torque curve. It might very...

    I'm ashamed of myself..!!

Whether I 'm riding a Spyder or a Goldwing, my observations about Harley riders waving is pretty consistent. If a rider is alone, he will almost always wave. When he is with a group of other Harley riders, he will seldom wave. Just one of life's little mysteries.

Slingshot not street legal in Connecticut

It looks to me like Polaris wanted to build a really cheap little sports car but didn't want to comply with expensive automotive safety regulations. They engineered a sports car with only one rear wheel and called it a motorcycle in order to skirt the regulations. If they didn't anticipate that...

i would like to see the face on someone trying to rob this place

The fact that you haven't seen any anti gun activists post so far tells me something about the demographics of the members. I knew there was some reason I spend a lot of time here.

    This just irks me personally

Many of the people I see parking in handicapped spaces don't look very handicapped. I have to wonder how often people are issued permits who don't need them and how often people who are not handicapped borrow a vehicle or hang tag from someone who is handicapped.

    MPG

I don't have too much experience on the RT-S yet but the best I ever got on my Goldwing was 42 mpg and the worst was 27 starting with a full tank. The few times I have filled up the Spyder, it has been the same way. Specs are not very useful because it is really all about how you ride it.
