• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Nitrogen on tires or not, that is the question...

Uuuuuuuh, did you read what I wrote? Did you read the text you just quoted? The fact is we are saying the same thing. I will repeat it for clarity. Air and Nitrogen will change pressure in exactly the same way and by the same amount with changes in temperature. Both gasses follow the ideal gas...

14 & 15 RT's and the battery tender (battery maintainer)

I wouldn't advise charging more than 1 battery at a time. The charging voltage profile needs to be different depending on capacity and state of charge. Battery charging is actually a pretty technical subject. I developed monitoring and charging strategies for experimental vehicles for the Army...

14 & 15 RT's and the battery tender (battery maintainer)

One more point! Lead-acid batteries self discharge. The rate is typically somewhere between 5% and 10% per month and it gets worse with age. Glass mat after market technology reduces the problem but doesn't eliminate it. I haven't yet measured the parasitic discharge rate on my unmodified 2014...

Finally the end of my rant

Its a shame! It is a real shame that good service is so hard to find. I have always done all my service on my Goldwings and sport touring bikes just for that reason. I bought my 2014 RT-S from a dealer I have never traded with before and I am hopeful he will provide reliable service at a fair...

E15 , got this back in response to my asking him to not to support the new E15 rules

A law that dictates the use of a gasoline/alcohol blend of 85/15 will have a profound effect on Spyder ryders as well as a majority of other vehicle owners on the road. It is a political issue because law makers are trying to force this on the public without evaluating the unintended...

Test ride when selling-Yes or No?

From my perspective, I didn't care much whether the test rider or the insurance company paid for the bike in case of an accident. I don't know what all the worry is about. I spend hundreds of dollars a year so I don't have to worry about wrecking my bike. Before someone rode off my my Wing, they...

Nitrogen on tires or not, that is the question...

What I am telling you is what I learned 30 years ago as an engineering student taking a course in pressure vessels. I spent nearly all of my career as an automotive engineer for one of the "big three" and I have never heard anyone who really knows what they are talking about advocate N2 as an...

    Heated seat?

I think Corbin should be able to tell you that and also provide detailed installation instructions. Did the seat not come with any printed information?

    14k service cost

I sometimes think that BRP (and other companies) puts useless maintenance items in the owner's manual just to help out the dealerships. I can't bring myself to ignore this stuff anyway so I just do it myself and keep good records for warrany purposes. I don't think I spent $1000 in maintenance...

Anyone Use This Lift For Spyders

The capacity is listed as 1100 pounds. That is cutting it pretty close for an RT. I would try to buy one with at least 25% over capacity - especially from a supplier like Harbor Freight.

Test ride when selling-Yes or No?

I recently sold my Goldwing after I let several people try it out. They all rode up on a cruiser or other large motorcycle and they all had a motorcycle endorsement on their driver's license. All but one guy was over 50. If someone had wrecked the motorcycle then my insurance would have paid for...

Nitrogen on tires or not, that is the question...

Sorry, but that isn't the reason they used nitrogen in the airplane tires. Nitrogen, oxygen and the blend of gasses we call air all behave exactly the same way according to Boyle's law*. Basically, this law says that pressure is proportional to temperature, assuming the volume is a constant...

    iPod Compatibility

You know, that is a great idea. I used to ride over there just every once in a while but I haven't been in a long time. As I recall, they have a lot of that kind of stuff. I could even buy a couple to have a spare in case one dies.

Could it be as simple as this? http://www.amazon.com/Connector-Micro-Adapter-iPhone-WHITE/dp/B007O68OF6/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1412947316&sr=8-8&keywords=ipod+adapter

    iPod Compatibility

I'm looking for an adapter that will change playlists and artists from the controls on the RT. According to the manual, only certain obsolete iPod players provide that functionality.

    iPod Compatibility

The owner's manual for my new 2014 RT-S lists several iPod models that are compatible with the adapter in the trunk. Unfortunately, none of those listed are the latest models. My question is will the adapter cable work with the latest models? If not, where can I get an adapter cable that will...
