• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Bikers and the Iron Cross

The swastika is a symbol that first appeared at 500 BC and was widely used in ancient Mesopotamia, so why not put it all over our stuff? With such a long history, I guess you'd agree that it would be really ignorant to associate it with Nazis? And as for the Iron Cross -- even if it's not a...

    Attitude & Motivation

I hate to move back to the original topic and I don't disagree with the sentiment. I only note that a wolf is an odd animal to choose to illustrate the strength of walking ALONE. Wolves are pack animals. They don't walk or hunt alone. Maybe the correct animal would be a cougar -- they...

    Bikers and the Iron Cross

Not only that - but Hitler's use of the Iron Cross was the LAST use of the Iron Cross and therefore the one most associated with it, it has never been issued since the end of the Nazi regime, and no one alive today remembers the use of the Iron Cross BEFORE Hitler. It is therefore most properly...

    Bikers and the Iron Cross

The latter source says the Iron Cross "has connotations of honor, strength, loyalty, and valor." Great rationalization. I wonder how the same people rationalize wearing helmets shaped like Nazi soldiers' helmets. Did Nazi helmets also have connotations of honor, strength, loyalty, and valor...

My New Years routine Past & Present

Well, here's a few "different" New Year's traditions that came along with my wife from the Philippines: Every New Year's Eve, we first have to collect 13 kinds of round fruits -- only round ones, bananas don't work, and multiple copies of the same fruits don't count, either. Gets some funny...

    Roadster Renovations....poof!

2dogs posted: "Things here are changing. Some SL's like the changes and some don't. Time will tell." Anthony responded: "An opinion that is nonsense." There have been enough posts from which one could logically conclude that **some** people don't like the changes. "Some" doesn't mean "all."...

POLL. Automatic welcome to new members

ER, you're going to "lose" your poll. It's the wrong question because nobody ever wanted to say the new members shouldn't be welcomed. At least for me, I just didn't want to see a dozen automated threads in the "what's new" section. Anthony has now resolved that issue, addressing my initial...

Question about F3 versus RT acceleration

I agree. Part of the Tupperware on the F3 sticks out right where my knees are and it would be very uncomfortable in a ride of more than a few minutes. This may only affect tall people (I have a 34" inseam). As for acceleration, why is it even important that the F3 may be a little faster than...

    Welcoming New Members

I wouldn't call an automated welcome from a computer "a more individual approach." Programming-wise, a welcome from a robot is technically proficient but also virtually meaningless. An automated response means about as much as the automated voice on the phone that tells you over and over how...

    THIS IS VERY WRONG

Charitynavigator says something different: https://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=3848 Charitynavigator.org gives Humane Society two stars out of four and says they spend 69% of their total expenses on actual programs. That's considerably different from what...

    Welcoming New Members

I would like to ask the admins if there is any way to announce the new members as a group instead of individually? It seems like the "What's New" has become overwhelmed with automatic announcement posts of new members. I myself would like to welcome new members but with so many threads out...

    It's Finally Here ...

For those who inquired ... I know I've been promising this for a long time but "Battle for Zarmina," the sequel to my first novel, "Zarmina," is finally available on Amazon. Here's the synopsis: We got off to a rocky start colonizing Zarmina, but three years later we were at peace and starting...

WIRE WHEELS for the Ryker ??

There is an adapter kit that Moss sells to retrofit those wire wheels to MGs. I wonder if that adapter kit might itself be "adapted" to work on Spyders. I won't be the one to try it to find out, though. A lot of MGB owners go the other way and convert their wires into alloys. Too much work...

    Escargot

Never heard of that in all my time there. Never even saw a monkey. The wife grew up in Manila and never heard of anyone selling monkey meat at the market, let alone by street vendors. She thinks maybe some people eat monkey in some remote province and the story just gets embellished from there.

Another thread about money......for those receiving S.S.

I'm not yet old enough for SS or Medicare, but I'm close enough to be interested. I'm confused by this thread. Can you explain what is the "Medicare monthly payment"? I thought Medicare was a benefit you got without having to make a monthly payment. And what does this mean: "we get almost...

    Escargot

I like escargot. Usually only see or get it on a cruise ship, though. Probably a good thing, because they always serve it drowning in butter. It should come with a certificate good for a free heart bypass surgery. I have always liked "odd" foods. Growing up in my family, we ate all kinds of...

To shine inside the headlights RT Ltd

Frank, I think you should take that one or two steps further. Your question was valid and you deserve an answer. If it's under warranty and they can't show you what service you were supposed to do that you didn't do, then it's on them, not you. I had this come up several years ago with a...

    Any suggestions on Keeping Warm?

For a casual rider such as myself, I was thinking a Joe Rocket Survivor suit would be my first choice (but I can't seem to find one in my size anywhere -- it's out of stock everywhere). If not, I might have to pop for an Aerostich and in that case I would really like to know what KIND of...

How much you made when you where younger compared to today

I think your observations are very astute. It does depend a lot on where you live. But you aren't telling the whole story. The military does not live on their basic military pay alone. The biggest factor you omitted was the "basic allowance for housing" or BAH. If your Staff Sergeant was...
