• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Only 26 Days until Spring -- SOMEONE PLEASE TELL MOTHER NATURE!

We've had a couple of spells with ice coating the roads here in west Texas this winter. All in all, one of the coldest winters I've seen in a while but nothing compared to what you folks up north have experienced. I admire your ability to keep riding when it's cold enough that I just want to...

    Pull Behind Trailers

Search youtube for Uni-Go trailer. You'll find several videos showing how they hitch, pull, unhitch, and how easy they are to maneuver by hand. You are right that they can be easily wheeled into a motel room (assuming a first floor room). Of course, all the videos are related to 2-wheelers...

Something I HATE about the Spyder!

AMEN! I agree with you. Just one of the reasons I will buy a base RT if and when I feel rich enough to trade my great running 2010 base RT for a 2014 or later model. Cotton

2014 Test Ride w/Shawn- new post

Sounds like a diesel? Naw, the diesel sound was coming from the knucklehead in the Chevy pickup with the Great Dane in back. Seriously, that was the first opportunity I'd had to really hear the triple and I liked the sound of it. Personally, I was glad to see that the 2014 base RT still has...

    Riding jacket

I would agree with those who said to keep the Harley gear. Who cares what logos are on the gear if it works? However, if you want generic gear that works over a wide temperature range, I will suggest looking at a Tourmaster Flex jacket. It is a 3 piece garment that quickly converts from a...

    Helmet advice

As others have suggested, the fit of a helmet is more important than anything else. It's hard to find a motorcycle dealership with sales people who really understand helmets and how to fit them. I don't know where you are in Texas but Moto-Liberty has very knowledgeable sales people and a...

Looking into the future of the RT

Spacetiger, you may well be right that BRP will go in this direction in the future. As a matter of fact, I sat on a 2014 RT at the International Motorcycle Show in Dallas and realized that I would probably have to buy an aftermarket seat to be comfortable on one for a long trip. It had the...

Looking into the future of the RT

I agree with Scotty. I don't want to the seat to be wider and I sure don't want it to be further back from the bars. We're not all 6' 4" and 300 pounds and it seems like most touring bikes are built for those tall, heavy riders. That said, I understand that bigger riders need more room than I...

    FINIAL ASSEMBLEY

Bob, I watched the mechanic put my 2010 RT together when it came in but went to the office to finalize the paperwork just before he was finished. I finished the paperwork and the bike still wasn't ready. The mechanic had connected it to BUDS and had a problem with it. Turned out that a sensor...

Thumbs down on Falkon rear tire

As Scotty said, expectations are personal, but expectations are based on experience. In my experience, I don't remember ever getting much more than 7,000 miles out of a rear motorcycle tire and sometimes quite a bit less. Considering the width of the RT rear tire, I expected to get around...

    What would happen...if anything?

I can't say that I've been through 6 inch deep water but I know I've been close to that depth. No problems at all but the water wasn't flowing very fast. At 6 inches deep and fast-flowing, I might be a little concerned because of the RT's slight ground clearance. I wouldn't worry at all about...

    XM radio, and their antennas...

I may be wrong but it would seem to me that you could just use the double sided tape to stick a flat piece of metal to the trunk and then use the original magnetic mount on the Spyder. Cotton

    RT Rear bags

Thanks for posting about the Hopnel trunk liners. I have been wanting something to give me some separation for items stored in the rear trunk and this looks like just the ticket for a very reasonable price. I ordered a set last night. The rear trunk on my 2010 RT carries a ton of stuff but...

    Not Leaving the Fold

Very nice Bonneville. I'm another one that thought I could be happy without a 2-wheeler but decided if I didn't get another 2-wheeler I might get too old to ride one. I bought an '03 BMW F650CS earlier this year and I really enjoy riding it solo. When we are two-up, the Spyder's still the...

What Octane Fuel Does Your Spyder Drink Most of the Time?

I usually run the highest octane available. That is usually 91 but sometimes 93. In some smaller towns around here there will only be one station and the only fuel available is 87 octane with up to 10% ethanol. I don't like it but if that's all that's available, that's what I run. I honestly...

    What's your preference?

Really, I guess I like them all, although there are times that I might prefer one over another. I love twisties but they can wear you out after a while and it's good to move on to some gentler curves. Scenic roads are great except when there is too much traffic on them like bluebonnet season...

    New owner to be question

I was riding a BMW R1100RT which got to be a little too heavy and too tall especially when riding 2-up. Bought the 2010 RT and we have been very happy with it. My wife loves it and I consider it to be the best touring machine I've ever owned. I kept the BMW when I bought the RT but found I...
