• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Rear Tire Wear

I certainly agree with Scotty about the comparison between the Spyder rear tire and other touring motorcycle rear tires. I never managed to get over 7,000 miles out of a rear tire on my BMW RT. If I had gotten 14,000 miles out of the OEM Kendas on my Spyder, I probably would not have gone to...

    Rear Tire Wear

I have about 32,250 miles on my 2010 RT and still running the original front tires. They have some wear but not ready to replace yet. The rear is a different story. I replaced the original with an OEM at 9,040 miles. It was worn completely out. Replaced the second OEM with a Kumho Ecsta at...

    Spyder Gas Cap video install

Thanks for the video, Lamont, especially for showing us which was the top and the bottom side of the new cap. The instructions that came with it never even mentioned which was top and bottom. I went ahead and installed it anyway but I was really worried if I might have it upside down. Cotton

Concern. By way of stock security, what's to stop someone from pushing your spy away.

I read in our local paper last week that thieves had been stealing oil field equipment including 2 7/8" drill stem which comes in 30 foot lengths and weighs in the neighborhood of 10 pounds per foot. If thieves are willing to work that hard to steal something, there's nothing on earth you can...

    Deer whistles

Probably 30 years ago I had a conversation with the Safety Director of the company I worked for, GTE Southwest. He had recently moved to Texas from his previous job as Safety Director of GTE Wisconsin. (Both companies have since been absorbed into Verizon.) He told me that they had had a bad...

    Motorcycle Show

I've seen Belstaff gear for dirt riders for years and didn't even realize that they made gear for street riders until seeing their booth at an International Motorcycle Show in Dallas a couple of years ago. I had an interesting discussion with their representative about the material in their...

    To all the other old 2 wheel riders;

A 2-wheeler is still the ultimate freedom machine - or maybe that's all in my head. I still ride my 2-wheeler in the dirt, but not as much as I used to. I'm working on my old R90/6 so I'll have a 2-wheeler to ride on the road. But the big advantage of a 3-wheeler is that it doesn't fall over...

    Miles per gallon

Me, too. Had a few tanks where the mileage was over 40 MPG in the mountains around Taos, NM and, like you, I don't know if it's the altitude or the slowwer average pace. Around home, in flatter country, I usually get between 28 and 30 MPG on my 2010 RT. Cotton

    Spyders are for everyone

You can see the handbrake if you look close but it also looks like he has footboards mounted just under the seat. And I'd bet that he just climbs on like DocRags said. More power to him. I hope he enjoys every ride he takes. Cotton

Tires and wheels 12 vs 13

I bet they are a little weak with the added weight. I've had a few occasions to need to stop in a hurry and I wind up literally standing on the brake and it stops okay. But the Brembos on the BMW just stopped so quick and so controllably that they were just a pleasure to use. The only worry I...

Tires and wheels 12 vs 13

Here in Bronte, Texas we did not have a white Christmas but there was snow in Lubbock, Amarillo, and northeast Texas around Greenville. My wife's niece sent some pics of her daughter playing in 4 to 6 inches of snow close to Greenville, Texas. I'm sure most of it is melted away by now. It's...

Tires and wheels 12 vs 13

That sounds good. I haven't been by my dealer in a while. I need to go by and see if they have an ST and if I can get a test ride. I'm gonna wait for a little warmer weather, though. It's been kinda cool for us wimps who don't normally ride in such weather. Cotton

Tires and wheels 12 vs 13

I agree that upgrading to the Brembos is a good thing. But in a recent thread regarding Spyder brakes, I think that I was the only one who didn't have high praise for the existing brakes. I think my comment was that they were just adequate. I was comparing the Spyder brakes to the brakes on...

Tires and wheels 12 vs 13

Personally, I don't like the looks of bigger wheels and low profile tires. At some point they start to look like wagon wheels to me but that's just my opinion, of course. There may be some handling advantage in having less sidewall flex, at least the handling characteristics may be more...
