• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Compare a 500 mile ride on a Spyder with same on 2 wheels?

AtomicEd my story was very similar... had a couple scary parking lot incidents that caused me to give up my Yamaha Venture but wasn't ready to stop riding. Couple buddies owned Spyders and I thought that they sounded promising (although I had been mercilessly teasing one of them about his F3S...

We all have some unusual road names out there, What's yours

One of my riding buddies dubbed me "Packer" because I had so much luggage strapped to my Honda Shadow on my first long distance ride... I've learned to travel lighter since and thankfully the name didn't stick.

USER NAMES/HANDLES - What does yours mean? Where did it come from?

My user name is one I use on a lot of sites.... used to live an hour north of Toronto (which is known as "the 6ix" or "the Six" due to its' 416 area code). My Spyder is named "the Goblin" because the Asphalt Grey colour to me looks more like a sick green in some lights, and the bug eyes of the...

Newbie questions! Trailer home tips, or fly/ride? Other Must knows?

When I bought my 18RTL I had never so much as sat on one... many years driving 2 wheels. Flew to pick it up and rode it 1500km home over 2 days. First hundred or so felt quite intense but but the time I got home I was comfortable. Take your time and it will come to you!!

How do you dress for a ride?

I'm ATGATT having experienced totalling one of my prior 2 wheel bikes (greasy spot in light rain) with full gear and a few cracked ribs and shoulder, and having the recent experience of watching a good friend and riding buddy of mine forced off the highway by a SUV at 110kph onto a soft shoulder...

Do you wear boots when riding?

I wear lace up boots almost all the time whether I am riding or not; not motorcycle specific but durable and with a couple coats of Mink Oil as waterproof as any of the Tourmaster boots I bought during my Yamaha Venture days. I find the boots (made by Blackwell and/ or Furrow, sold in Canada...

    Tires again

The shop that did my rear tire charged me $100... of course, it was an actual tire shop, run by a guy who rydes an RT so I figured that was fair. Took him about an hour, and he chatted with me for a LOT of it :)

How to Buy a New Spyder from Dealer - Sight Unseen

I had not even sat on an RT before buying mine from a dealer a long way from home in September 19.. 2018 demo unit with 1100km/700 miles on it, $10,000 off MSRP (end of season at a small dealer in Northern Ontario who knew if he didn't move it FAST, it would sit until next May).. I hopped on a...

Thinking of switching to 3 wheels from 2...not a Spyder owner...yet

I think that a lot of people have bought Spyders over the years and rode them very little because they felt uncomfortable riding alone and didn't have others around. Often they are also purchased by folks in their "later years" whose health ultimately makes them garage furniture, or by folks who...

Ontario Canada Spyder Ryders...recommendation on a shop to install actual tires?

Thanks for that!! I'm in Leamington so about a 5 hour drive to Port Perry... but it is an option worth considering for sure since to even get a Kenda crap tire I'm past Tillsonburg so... appreciate it!

Ontario Canada Spyder Ryders...recommendation on a shop to install actual tires?

Mike, pre-Covid border shutdown last year we had a trip planned to Vermont and New Hampshire, and if the border EVER opens again, it will be high on the list to head to again. Thanks!!

Ontario Canada Spyder Ryders...recommendation on a shop to install actual tires?

My nearest dealer is a 3 hour drive... and when I raised the subject he made it clear he only installs what BRP provides him with. Hoping someone closer has an option that is better than those ....

Ontario Canada Spyder Ryders...recommendation on a shop to install actual tires?

I'm in the Southwest part of Ontar-i-owe and need to replace the crap rear tire the Spyders come with. Seen lots of posts recommending various tire options but having a hell of a time finding a shop here who (a) know how to do it and (b) will do it. Wondered if anyone had a shop they have used...

Top rack luggage bag, which one?

I have a Kuryakyn top rack bag I bought a couple bikes ago when I had my Harley... fits perfect, holds a change of clothes and shower bag for those quick overnight stops when I I can lock everything else in the frunk/trunk/saddlebags...

Ryker Mileage per tank - what do you get?

What is it you are riding? On my 18 RTL I have gotten on average about 190 miles per tank, with as low as 150 running at 75 in strong headwinds, and as many as 225 when doing more like 55.

    Newbie ramblings....

Congratulations on your move to three! I made the shift 18 months ago when it was becoming clear to me that the weight of my Yamaha Royal Star Venture was becoming too much in low speed maneuvering. I found a great deal on a 2018 RTL demo unit 1500km away from where I lived, and without ever...

    BaJa Ron’s sway bar install

Firecat I am in Leamington, Windsor's warmer cousin ;) I put a BajaRon swaybar on my 2018 RTL and the difference was stunning.... even at the $400CDN for the bar, and about $75 for the dealer to install (book rate was 40 minutes, actually took him 2 hours... I was on the winning side of the...
