• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Maiden voyage for the 2019 RT limited today

I was in the same boat after many years on two wheels ... but I had a couple unpleasant incidents that could've been far worse this summer on my Yamaha Venture (all having to do with how freaking top-heavy it was in low-speed maneuvers), so in early September I bought a 2018 RTL demo sight...

    Poll on navigation preferences

I use my GPS as much to glance at to see what is ahead as for routing, but major trips we usually have about 8-10 guys, all with GPS's... somebody always feels ambitious enough to plan the route for the day!

    why i purchased my spyder

I always wanted to ride a bike, my older brother had one when I was a kid but had an accident that laid him up a while, so I never acted on my interest until, at turning 50, I decided "If not now, when?" and bought a new Honda Shadow and went to learn to ride it. 14 years, about 200,000 km and...

    speed

I just made the switch in early September from a Yamaha Venture, and all the suggestions were the same ones that helped me. Looking at the sway bar over the winter, but just adjusting my grip to be looser, relaxing and practice has seemed to do the trick. It was learning to ryde after many years...

Do People Think Our Spyders Are Scooters Or Something?!?!

The only negative comments I've had were from my brother who is a HD diehard.....and he'd make fun of me for putting my socks on before my pants so that shows how much it bothers me :)

    1000kms

I'm in Ontario as well, Frankie69, picked my 2018 RTL up in Thunder Bay (dealer demo) and rode home first week of September with temps as low as 4C (39F for you southerners) :) ... still riding up as far as yesterday but I think it's finally time to put her away until spring!! Im in York Region...

    Fuel octane explained.

Here in the Great White North only PetroCannabis and Esso/Mobil have a grade above 91 (94 at PC and 93 at Esso) ..... so it's 91 for me. So far so good.

    looking at getting a Spyder

I just made the switch, after years riding a series of two wheel bikes (A Honda Shadow, Yamaha Star1300, Harley FXDC and most recently a Yamaha Venture S)... I bought my 2018 RT Limited online (dealer demo) and rode it home 1400km having never so much as sat on a RT before. I am now at about...

    Natchez Trace

Rode it several years ago when I still had my Harley.... it's pretty and calm but I did find it somewhat too ... I don't know... bland? If what you want is total relaxation it's a nice ride, if you want to be pushed and challenged it isn't the road for you. Just my thoughts.

    Riding in the Rain

I do the same as RTL1330, although in Canada I found that Dollarama (our version of Dollar General) has black rubber gloves that fit over thin car driving gloves that cost about 1.50 a pair and work amazingly well!

    The Morning Thread

A good morning from the south shore of Lake Simcoe, Ontario, Canada.... ain't snowed yet, must still be summer!!

    Time Is Running Out

Despite living in Ontario, Canada, I never completely put my bike away for the winter... there always seems to be a day or two here or there during the winter where the roads are bone dry and my snowmobile suit comes in handy for at least a spin around the neighbourhood! :)

    New GPS?

I installed Genius Maps on my phone to use with BRP Connect on my 2018 RTL when I bought it and find it a nuisance....map is too small and hard to read on the screen, although I find the directions are in a larger font. Also found the voice commands annoying... thing screeches "Youre going too...

Do still ride a motorcycle ??

I bought the Spyder because I was having increasing difficulty at low speed handling my last 2 wheeler (2009 Yamaha Royal Star Venture)... seemed silly to have two bikes when I have difficulty enough finding time to ride 1. Sold the Yammy on the weekend.

Review: First Spyder road trip impressions

I've only had my Spyder a couple weeks but I drove it 1400km home in 2 days from the dealer I bought it from... my initial sense was that wind and trucks and little potholes bothered a lot more than I expected, but I did find by the second day I was much better at anticipating when this would...

    2012 to 2019 RTL

The GPS on the 18/19's is weird for sure but it doesn't need any data connection to work once you have your maps downloaded... I still think that an actual GPS likely will still serve you better (the built in screen is too small and the routing suggestions are .... strange for sure on the Genius...
