• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

LEDs for a Spyder RSS 2015

My '10 RS had upgraded lights when I bought it... not sure if they are hid or led's. They are bright, but don't have oncoming traffic complaining because of them. I also recently changed my fog lights from halogen to led. I keep them on in the daylight too. They are a nice improvement. I...

    Oil in 998cc air box

I have the same with mine... thought I remember reading about instructions to put a filter into the air breather hose. I can't find that thread via search. Maybe someone has the thread archived that helps decrease the oil blow-back in the 998 rotax engine. I saw a reference that Bajaron used...

    998cc VS 1330cc engines

I'm new to spyders (1 season), so some day I may choose to get out the wallet and move up from my '10 RS. I've gotten used to being in tune with the unique powerband of the RS. It is so different than any other bike I've owned. The power is sufficient to keep me smiling... either 1 up or 2...

What are you paying for insurance? Who are you insured with?

Good to look at the reputation of the company in your state/area, too. Some are more prone to skyrocket cost (or drop you) if you have an incident(s)... even after years with them. I do shop insurance about every 3 years... just to check the temp of the insurance pool. Quotes are free and...

    Godzilla with a wrench

Oil change done. Now we'll see how it does over a higher mile service schedule than this 3k change. The oil that came out, BRP blend 4t, looked pretty darn done and black. Still, it did its job, there was no metal on the drain plug magnet. Glad that oil changes will now be once a year task...

    Godzilla with a wrench

This is with BRP blended... thought it was 3k? I'll change it out now that I have it opened up and bolts loose... but did they lengthen the spec from the manual? Going to synthetic this time, so will feel comfortable going out to 5k with it. Thanks.

    Godzilla with a wrench

Some penetrating oil... went for a ride and let it cool. Got a longer breaker bar. Tapped the hex socket lightly with a hammer. Grunted like Schwarzenegger in his younger years and it finally let go. Threads are okay. Finally! Thankful for small victories for sure! Anyone know on the RS...

Success today... so maybe not a trip to the friendly confines of the local dealership!

    GS phone holder

Then spyders should not come with GPS units built into them. I like having a ribbon of road to refer to on screen to see what is ahead on curves, turns etc. To each his own. Chastise anyone who has GPS on their bike. Write a note to BRP. I obviously do not agree with you.

    GS phone holder

Don't make calls from the bike, but do stream music at times to the helmet and use the GPS app on the phone... or the small Garmin I have. So, for me, best place is where I can view the screen.

    GS phone holder

I have a ram mount called the "Claw"... it works well and I ran power to an outlet I put under the bars too. Can power my Garmin or Phone... depending on what I have in the mount. My Spyder is a 2010 RS. This has been a stable and easy mount to work with.

    Godzilla with a wrench

Went out this afternoon to do my first oil change on the 2010 Spyder RS I bought last spring. The fellow I bought it from had changed the oil before I took possession of it. 3K down the road and time to explore the oil change and then... Godzilla had a wrench. Unbuttoned everything and went...

Randall - After a BajaRon Bar?

I believe that is right... plus you get to support one of the page sponsors that is helping to fund this forum with all the helpful information for the Spyder community... and, Ron is a great guy, with great products.

2019 limited rt no stable ride on interstate.

My early days were uncomfortable times 12. I found that adjusting the the front tire pressure (even Kendas) helped a bunch. When I put on the new Vredestein tires, that was a huge improvement. Baja Ron's swaybar and heim links helped lots too. But mostly... as the others have said... what...

    Are Spyder sales Declining Fast?

Have a friend that works higher up in Polaris (Indian). They are sticking with the Slingshot niche'... so far. The memory of Victory still casts a large shadow. The Slingshot is not a very profitable endeavor for a company that is feeling the headwinds of the economy and culture. From...

    An Oily Can 'o Worms

Sorry for starting another oily thread. Inquiring minds would like to know. I saw that Rotella T6 is NOT to be used in the 998 because of slipping clutch issues. When I looked backward, I saw that the issue came up early on in Spyder history. Since then, Rotella T6 has gone through some...

    Rain Gear?

Frog Togs to grab from the Frunk when out and about and weather might change. Tourmaster gear when touring, with wind water barrier in jacket and pants. Works well and nice not having to stop and sort things out to put on different gear. So far... seems to work well in anything from light to...

Horrible handling issue with major wind gusts

I've found usually when the Spyder is misbehaving... it is actually me. My brain, especially in adverse weather (wind/rain) wants to remember my 2 wheel skills. It is good advice, when the Spyder acts weird, relax and make sure your "death grip" hasn't kicked in and the input is playing with...

    RS Fan

It is surprisingly "normal" for any fan cooling to wait that high on the temp gauge before coming on. It faked me out too. As the above post says, something else is going wrong with your Spyder. I would start by making sure the coolant cap is tight (and working), with a 2009 inspect that...

    RS Fan

I let it idle in the garage today and build up heat .... at 6 bars, the fan came to life. Still surprising that it climbs that far on the gauge, but I guess that is normal. I will keep watch on it though... don't want to overheat an engine. Thanks for the help... hopefully alls well that ends...
