• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Replacing the shift switch on my SE5

About 27K miles on the Bike. Its a 2012 RS. The warranty replacement was at about 12K miles I believe. The bike runs great and the only issue I've really had is the paddle shifter (except the terrible drain plug on the radiator). When the shifter goes bad it starts with the check...

Replacing the shift switch on my SE5

Thanks people. The trick is to remove the mirrors. Then you can remove the top plastic console housing and then the lower portion. You can leave the aluminum frame that holds the mirrors, lights etc in place. Then you are able to get to the wiring without much issue. I just used the old...

Do you carry extra fuel for long tours?

I carried a 1.25 gallon Sealed gas can in the frunk of my RS on my western tour. I never needed it but there was a couple times when I was pulling into the gas station on fumes.

    Classic Solo Saddle

I've been using a folded towel on my stock rally seat to get me 1 1/2 - 2" higher. Does the Corbin seat set you that much higher? I like the look of the seat and was thinking on buying one.

    Ryker Rally rear shock

To make the shock stiffer you want to rotate the silver nuts so they compress the spring.

    New Ryker 900 owner!

The preservative burning off parts smells a little. I wouldn't think there should be too much smoke. You could always pull the top/front panel off (slides off easily) to make sure there aren't any leaks of fluid to cause excessive smoke. You're most likely fine.

    CVT belt life

The 900 Ace Turbo is used in the snowmobiles, the SXS's and I believe the Sea-doo. It's the same 900 engine that's in the Ryker but it has a turbo and some beefier internals to handle the extra power. In the Snowmobile its rated for 150hp. I'd be happy with 125 in the Ryker. Hell, 105 would...

    CVT belt life

I like when he says "this CVT could power a train". Just makes me think even more that BRP designed the Ryker from day 1 to be offered with the 900ACE turbo engine at some point. Maybe 2021?

Replacing the shift switch on my SE5

I have 2012 RS. My gear shift switch was replaced under warranty 4 yrs ago. It's gone bad again so this time I'm going to replace it myself. I started diving into this and the wiring seems to disappear into the frame once it goes through the hole in the console (console being the large black...

    CVT belt life

Someone here noted they thought Timeken (the bearing company) was making CVT drive belts for all the OEM's and after market people? Maybe? It's like covers. BRP sells a snowmobile cover for about $300. You can buy the same cover without BRP decals on it from Kimpex for about $125.

    CVT belt life

The snowmobile CVT systems used to be "open" on the side facing away from the engine with a simple metal plate belt guard on top. Over time some manufacture's (brp being the primary one) started encasing their cvt system in a plastic housing. Similar to the Ryker. At the same time all ATV CVT...

    No oil in gearbox

This was a known issue with some of the early Rykers and there was a bulletin issued about the problem. The original owner should have returned the unit for inspection. The dealer/BRP should cover this even if its not still under warranty. With the bulletin being issued about the problem you...

    CVT belt life

"That is why I believe the primary purpose of pulley #16 is to move air." Not to disagree with you but.....The primary purpose of part #16 is being 1/2 of the driven (primary) clutch. It creates the inner sheave face (the belt rides on these faces) of the primary clutch. Without part #16...

top speed of the Ryker 900

105 mph is where mine tops out. The speedo fluctuates between 105 and 106mph. I ran it wide open for a good distance and that was all it had in sport mode. My buddy on his BMW ran side by side with me. My speedo was off 2mph compared to his gps.

    CVT belt life

Part #16 is the other half of the driven clutch.. It has "blades cast in it and I'm sure it serves a somewhat dual purpose to pull air through the plastic housing but I'd more say those "blades" are used for heat dissipation and added strength. The face with the "blades" is right up against...
