• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What's best for Cold weather winter storage? Fuel additive? Battery care? Rodents?

Aluminum diamond plate flooring. Basically a textured metal very durable floor. I bought 2 10x5 sheets for a 10x10 bike shed.

What's best for Cold weather winter storage? Fuel additive? Battery care? Rodents?

I have a 'summer ride', 2 wheeler that is in my shed for 8 months while I run the Spyder thru the cold months. I add stabil, fill tank with 91 octane (10% eth :yikes:) put on tender, park on AL diamond plate. I do the same thing for the Spyder over the summer. Never had a problem with 1st...

After hearing so much hoopla, I finally tried Buc-ee's! Never Again!

My experience has been that the 'Pump Hog' problem tends to happen mostly at the smaller, off the main road, AKA local stations. Those stations often have card reader problems which may be one reason for the delays.

First long ride coming, 2015 RTS - any advice?

Depending on your stamina, a 400 mile 1-way run on the slab is not difficult on a Spyder. Average speed (incl. breaks) of 50 mph will take 8 hours in the saddle. Stop at least every 2 hours to stretch your legs. +1 on the Airhawk cushion!

Just returned from a Route 66 ride - Fantastic Trip!

Well done! That trip is still on my bucket list to reach the left coast. So far I haven't gotten past Utah / N.Mex on my runs. Too many things getting in the way of stringing 2-3 weeks together.

Alternative heated gear that looks promising?!

5 & 7.4v heated gear has pros & cons. + portable + no bike wiring - limited by battery charge (high settings depletes the battery in <3-4 hrs. - need spare batteries for long days 12v gear runs off the bike's battery so endless heat at all temps. Downsides are higher cost (need separate...

Never Say a Spyder Can't Flip

Very scary to watch but if you want to flip your spyder, just cut the wheels and do a quick take-off from a stop and hold your breath.

When To Replace Belt tensioner/Vibration Damper/Idler Pulley?

You need to remove all the tupperware on the left side. - Shiney black - lower painted - forward painted - passenger step - floorboard (easier to remove/replace the next piece) - THE BIG BLACK PANEL (not horrible but tedious. go easy)

Anyone here like planning their own routes?

My most-trusted techno-geek friend agrees that MRA is the best - so far - of all the smart phone mapping apps. I still use Basecamp to plan but will play with MRA this winter for the Polar Bear rides. I prefer using the Zumo for navigating.

What is the Actual USB Connector Voltage?

You are over-thinking this. BRP documentation is less than ideal. USB ports ARE ALL ~5V OUTPUT regardless of what the printed wiring diagram shows. What varies is the AMPERAGE of the output. Lower AMPs will take longer to charge and may not be strong enough to keep some phones charged if running...

Are warped discs a common problem with Spyder Front Brakes?

I replaced a warped front rotor on my 2020 RT with EBC rotors from BajaRon at ~ 15000 miles. At 37k and all good.

Anyone besides me slowing down to Prolong Rides?

I don't slow my pace. If I'm near the end of a planned run and want to stay out a bit longer, I go into 'wander' mode and tack on some extra miles.

How do you mange riding a Spyder and a motorcycle?

I ride both. Most summer rides are on 2 wheels. Winter is Spyder season. Spring/Fall is a toss-up depending on temps and distance. I find my right hand reaching for the front brake lever on the Spyder after a 2-wheel session but it fades soon enough.

Had to wear Gloves for Can Am riding course - Do you wear gloves? Why? Or why not?

I always wear gloves. ATGATT. Road debris, bugs, and rain hurt a lot at speed. Also, if you ever find yourself sliding superman-style down the road due to a get-off, your palms will thank you for having the gloves. Ask me how I know. :yikes:

Do I need a pad spacer when Changing Front Brake Rotors?

No trick or spacers to changing the front rotors. The EBCs are are direct replacement. The pads can be depressed by normal direct pressure - not screw-in piston like the rear. Remove the caliper (2 bolts) and slide it off the rotor like a 2-wheel MC. Swap rotor, spread pads, reassemble. Time...

I don't understand 'Trip Statistics'... am I holding it wrong?

My 2020 RT MPG data has never been correct. I think it's an unlisted feature. :dontknow:  I do MPG the old fashioned way: miles/gallons.

Russell Day Long saddles for '20+ RT's - they don't make a driver backrest!

I may be missing something here but the pre-20 RTs had a 1-piece seat whereas the 20+ seat is 2-pieces -driver/passenger. The backrest post goes thru the passenger seat (not part of the driver's seat). Also the backrest has NO effect on the passenger seat sensor.

    How Do You Ride?

NJ slabs (Tnpk, GSP, i78, i80, i287, i195) all are 65mph posted. If you ride at 70-75mph you will be run over by a semi. Typical speeds are 80-85 in open road. I'm in the camp with the, 'go faster than the others to keep the threats in view and me in control' believers.

Do you remove your Airhawk seat pad when you leave your Spyder parked?

I've had an airhawk on all my rides since 2009. I never remove it on day-rides or multi-day trips. Even leave it on overnight at motels. Sometimes I cover it with a plastic bag or bike cover to keep it dry in the AM. Never had one stolen or tampered with across 25+ states (but I don't stop in...
