• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Finally got a ride in today after 6 weeks of not being able to because of unusually odd and unpredictable winter weather our way - my longest "dry spell". Did over 200 miles as the sky was clear and the temps were in the 60's all day. :f_spider:

Do I need a service manual to replace the spark plugs on the ST?

I just did the wire/plug change a few weeks ago. Took two days (panel removal and replacement and some lighting accessory wiring) and a lot of swear words. The hardest challenge turned out to be the removal and replacement of the front cylinder wire. It runs between the two cylinders under the...

Any tips on Changing the spark plugs/wires?

I finally got the job done today. The only tense moment was when I first turned on the key and hit the starter button and nothing happened. It was then I noticed the kill switch button was off. The bike started up immediately and ran well. I noticed that a previous occasional slight engine...

Any tips on Changing the spark plugs/wires?

Well, I started on the task at about 12 noon and stopped at 6:30 PM due to being tired and frustrated. I stripped off all the necessary body panels and then dug into the innards to get to the front plug. I got the top of the airbox off and then the screws holding the bottom out, but there was...

Any tips on Changing the spark plugs/wires?

I have recently purchased new plugs and wires from Baja Ron. Now comes the fun part - actually replacing them. Other than enough beers and appropriate cuss words, any words of wisdom or advice before I actually start the job? I understand one of the plugs is a chore to get to. This will be...

Wrap my Spyder textured carbon fiber

I had to eventually remove mine as it was very difficult to keep it looking nice. Any wax that inadvertently got on it caused it to keep turning "whitish" and nothing I tried could bring back the black. Apparently, the surface is slightly "porous" so it has a tendency to absorb things that may...

Brake light came on for a few seconds and brakes are acting normally.

You MAY just be a tad low on brake fluid in one of the brake fluid reservoirs. I have had this happen twice and from what I understand from other discussions on this occurring, it only takes a tablespoon or two being low to trigger this. There are supposedly sensors inside the reservoirs. This...

    So what is the trick?

There is also a Torx screw near the front of that panel behind the black lower foot fairing piece. You have to remove another Torx screw at the front of the fairing, then pull it away slightly to access the hidden panel screw.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Loaded it up on the trailer today for a trip tomorrow from VA down to FL. Gotta go down and help my parents a bit with some medical concerns and not sure how long I may be there, so......... I know its not the safest time to travel, however, I haven't seen them in over a year and you never know...

Skyline Drive.... Fee Free day this Saturday 26 September 2020!!

Fortunately, I got my Senior lifetime pass a few years ago. I get up there on part of the Drive at least once or twice a month, weather permitting, and being about 90 minutes away also helps.

    Over heating at idle

I just went thru the same thing yesterday evening. Turned out one of my hose clamps failed and the bike exhibited the same issues - i actually was able to pull the hose off the fitting today by hand as the clamp was trashed. Replaced with a screw type clamp and repaired today.

Tense ride this evening....... Coolant Leak!

Yes, pretty much had to replace most of what dumped out on the garage floor and catch container when I pulled off that hose - probably about 75% of it. I had already done a flush and replace a few months earlier, so, everything is definitely clean again.

Tense ride this evening....... Coolant Leak!

Pulled panels off today and wiped everything clean. The bottom engine cover was a mess. Started the engine with the radiator cap off until it started to warm up. Put the cap back on and almost immediately, coolant started flowing from the top part of the engine behind the parking brake unit. I...

Tense ride this evening....... Coolant Leak!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about the water pump and praying that it will not be it. Hoping for a bad clamp somewhere as those oetiker clamps have been nothing but trouble for me. Getting ready to start pulling panels in about an hour or so.......

Tense ride this evening....... Coolant Leak!

Decided to take an evening ride today as the humidity had dropped and it felt rather nice. I got about 15 miles from the house and came to a stop at a traffic lite. Thought I caught a slight whiff of engine coolant, but didn't think much of it as I had always detected such an odor from other...

    General headlamp bulb question

So far, everything has been replaced by generic Sylvania 9003 Extra Visions (one step about their lower bulbs). I may try LED's on the next go round. Thanks for all the comments.

    General headlamp bulb question

Having just replaced my 4th headlight bulb in 3-1/2 years at 44K miles, I was curious as to what might primarily contribute to bulb failures as a whole. 1 - Cheap bulbs 2 - Total hours of bulb life (whether riding or performing work on the bike) 3 - Total miles ridden (as opposed to idling in...
