• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Turbine like sound from my 2017 RTL

I was just scanning the topic list here, and I thought this one said Tribune-like sound... and I didn't even know I was dyslexic! Hmmm... now there's an idea for a publication name: "The Turbine Tribune." A trade rag for hydroelectric plant operators, maybe? Perhaps I now need to join that...

    TricLED contact?

I sent them a query from their website, and got an email response back from Cindy the very next day, October 11th.

    Kill Switch Accidently Killing

Like others above, I use the kill switch when filling with gas... while filling, I can watch the gas gauge climb and be extra alert for the splashback event when full. Plus the other functions of odo reset and mileage recording on the pump receipt. Another way I use it: I listen to music while...

My impressions of my 2020 F3 Limited Dark

Aaaahhhhh, the Rio Grande Valley of Texas! I might have up to 6 weeks that ryding is unpleasant, but other than that, the season is year-round! And that's why I left Missouri behind.

    Full Tank of Fuel

I use my trip meter and fill up every 200 miles, +/-10, and the most I ever put in was around 5.7 gallons, but usually somewhere between 5.0 & 5.5 gal. I insert the nozzle as shallow as possible, flow as slow as possible (never on automatic) and quit at the first tiny sign of splashback...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

I re-blacked all the graying black plastic that's now 5 years old. Looks great! I don't know what it is, some stuff that looks and feels just like white milk. Given to me by a neighbor lady who says it only comes in 1-gallon cans for about $25. She learned about it from her golf-cart...

When Replacing Rear Tire Best To Replace Front Tires?

Remember these pictures? https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?122648-Tire-picture&p=1451036#post1451036 Front tires last much longer than rear tires.

    Water ! 2017 RT Limited

If you wash it with a hose, pull the ignition key first, so water does not run down into the ignition switch. Let that protective inner flap close tight! Ask me how I know... :banghead:

    rear tyre pressure

I think the only useful answers you'd get would have to be from someone using the exact same tyre with a similar load. Here's my theory on pressure with radial tyres: this type of construction is designed to perform best when the sidewall flexes a little bit while in motion. So... apply your...

998cc vs 1330cc fuel mileage question

I enter all my gas purchases into a spreadsheet and let it keep the averages, and total expense. My OLD Spyder averaged 30.73mpg for its 32,600 miles. My NEW one has averaged 37.10 for all its 86,786 miles to date. (Gas cost is 6.4c per mile.) However, the mileage has been improving lately...

limp mode & code P0340 - Problem SOLVED!

Shouldn't the warranty still pay for the defective part?

    Drive through windows

I only do banks, either teller window or ATM. No food windows, whether Spyder or car... I eat inside or stay home to eat. I'll be danged if I'm gonna sit in line, wasting gas, inching forward through a line, TWICE, to get food. I get enough of that in traffic and at red lights.

How many miles on your current Spyder?

84,752 Slowed down a lot here in the lockdown stuff.

    10k mile-stone...

I still remember exactly where I was when my OLD Spyder hit 10,000 but not the NEW one. I'm lucky to be where I can ryde just about year-round, so now I'm closing in on 117,000 miles in 7 years, 4 months. And I guess it helps to be retired all that time, too.

    Cleaning the Spyder

Always take the key out, so water doesn't run down into the ignition switch.

    Top speed

Yup. The engineering egghead-speak I saw about this is: As speed doubles, wind resistance quadruples. It was mentioned in an article about fuel economy.

    Top speed

My stock 2015 RTL will grab 100mph in 4th gear PDQ. I've topped it out at 117 in 5th. But 6th is more like overdrive, not for speed. If you're doing 75 in 6th and want to pass something, you gotta downshift but it only takes a split second. Git 'er in 4th, crack that throttle, then HOLD ON...

    Your First One

Your story is close to mine! I had a 1947 James (English) with a Villiers (French) 5hp 2-cycle engine, that I also got around 1954 (or '55, I can't remember). My friend with the 3-wheel Cushman (above) also got one very similar, and we rode together a lot. I was around 14 or 15, no license!

    Your First One

HEY! Friend-o-mine had one of those, but it had a steering wheel instead of a handlebar. I drove it a number of times (AND rode in the box while he drove)... the steering wheel had a steering knob on it, because it was bought new in 1950 for a 12-yo boy who lost one arm to cancer. When he died...

    Very Interesting Bike

I saw a video of a car with a horn that exactly imitated gunshots. Someone was trying to carjack the driver, he sounds that horn, and you oughtta see those "usual suspects" run for their lives! Hey, maybe you can google it? Post it here?
