• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Another way to look at it.

Not to brag, but yesterday morning I actually walked into a room, and remembered the reason why! For full disclosure, I must admit it was the bathroom. But still...

Loud gear noise between 45 and 50 mph

My 2015 had a whine at 50-53mph for a long time, regardless of which gear I was in, but it went away quite some time ago. (It has 83xxx miles now.) I first thought it was alternator whine, but I reasoned it couldn't be, because that would be at a constant RPM, not a constant wheel-speed. So...

Tickets for ryding in Maryland and other places??

Just put a small bag of non-perishable foodstuffs in your saddlebag, and tell the LEO you're just going HOME from the store. If he asks for proof... HAH!

Tickets for ryding in Maryland and other places??

Attempting to answer this question is futile. The new rules come faster than we can type the present ones.

    Belt Tensioner - why

In my 115,000+ miles on two machines, I have never noticed the need for one. I'd say if you don't FEEL the need for one, from vibration, then you don't need it. After all, if it were truly needed by every machine, wouldn't it be original equipment? :dontknow:

    Anyone With an RPM Warranty?

Someone asked if these warranties paid for themselves. Well... only if the need occurs, of course! I went back through my records and found these events covered by my $869 RPM One (which still runs to mid-July this year). There are some estimates because they don't necessarily tell me what...

    Anyone With an RPM Warranty?

I took RPM on my 2015 for 3 yrs, and paid 869... the salesmen now say I got a really good deal because it's much higher now. I've used it 3 or 4 times too, with no problems and no deductible. It even paid for my tow when the electric parking brake controller failed and would not release the...

    Brake question

...rust patterns which perfectly match the footprint of the brake pads. That was the first thing I noticed in the photos. So the explanations above were obvious to me... :dontknow:

    Good Morning, oh hell

When my 2015 was 1 year old and had 19,000 miles, I poked a hex-head machine bolt, approx. 5/8x1-1/2in. straight through a front Kenda tread. The dealer wouldn't touch it, of course, so I went to an independent tire shop and they removed the tire and patched the inside, no problem. 7 bucks...

    Tire picture.

My new Vredesteins have been on for 6 months and 10,200 miles, and it does go pretty much straight down the road now. So I suspect the Kenda side-wear and side-pull was just due to a crappy tire. Note in the picture that the "good" Kenda wore evenly all across the tread. I don't yet see any...

    Another mini mileage “milestone”.....

Neat! I took a picture of mine like that once, but I don't remember what the digits were. Tomorrow I'm gonna roll up 80,000 on mine. AND... this is my 900th Post! :ohyea:

    Last ride of the decade

My last ryde was 102 myles on Monday, but the weather has been ****y and rainy the next two days, especially today. Back again tomorrow--- The sun will be back out, and around 70 degrees! So, here's to another 15-20,000 myles before the start of the next decade! (Note: the **** is my own...

    Why get a motorcycle?

I drove one of those! In the 50s. Indian 74 (equivalent of the Harley 74). It had a rocking-type foot clutch on the left, and 3-speed shifter on the right; First, Neutral, Second, Third, in a straight line, and you had to "find" Neutral to use the kick-starter. Friend o' mine had it while I had...

    Another car tire thread

Mike, today the tire is 16.5psi (cold). It has ~24,200 miles on it, and the crosswise rain sipes are still prominent. The DOT number is: DOT APP2 023X 1916 If those last four digits mean Week 19 of Year 2016, then DANG, it was already two years old when I bought it (03/18). I couldn't find...

    Another car tire thread

FWIW I have to give my Michelin Defender a very low grade for traction. I can hardly ever use high throttle at low speeds in any of the first three gears... it will just spin, spin, spin. On wet pavement, it behaves like it's icy pavement. On dry pavement, it behaves like it's wet pavement...

    Why get a motorcycle?

Hmmmm... well, I dunno... neighbor of mine back in MO was into aviation and had a T-shirt that said, "FLYING - The Second-Greatest Thrill Known To Man" :lecturef_smilie: Oh Well... Never Mind... Carry On... :doorag:

    A little angry,and frustrated.

Friend-o-mine in Missouri had a bumper sticker on his old Toyota pickup that said HONK IF PARTS FALL OFF. Maybe one of these would save you a return-trip?
