• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    2020/21 redesigned front drive sprocket

    " . . . there are "fat-fingered" mistakes . . ." I have 'missing finger mistakes, will that work? :gaah:

What Portable jump starters are you using?

I carried a Genius GB 40 on my two wheeler for a year or so and then tried to use it to start my daughter's ATV with an AGM battery. Found out then it only works with lead acid batteries and not an AGM. Worked great on the lawn mowers and cars with regular batteries but not on the ATV.

I added a usb/voltmeter to the middle blank port in dash.

Do your handlebars hit on the USB plug when in use? I'm looking at putting one in my 16 RTL. Don't really want to use a USB angle adapter.

    Brake lights with key off

Never noticed it before but just added extra flashing brake lights and happened to push on brake pedal with the key in my hand and the brake lights came on. Just tapped into the brake lights behind the left tailight. Everything else works fine. 16 RT-L

Adding Foam grips over RT Heated grips - will they still work OK?

I have those on my 16 RT-L and the heated grips work ok. Haven't had them long enough to tell how well they work but the heat did come through on high the last time I rode.

    BRP Engineers - I wonder if their ears burn . . . ?

I took the end off the baffle and then installed it. Wanted something I could hear with these old tired ears but not so bad the Mrs. wouldn't ride along. My table is nice when working on everything except underneath the spider where it gets in the way. There's a fine line between a good idea...

    BRP Engineers - I wonder if their ears burn . . . ?

I hope the engineer that decided where to put those three springs on the 1330 exhaust sleeps well. :lecturef_smilie: Finally used a screwdriver inserted in a hole in the frame and was able to get some leverage on the tool supplied with the BaldwinIronworks cat delete. It might have been easier...

    16 RT-L - wiring a modulating brake light?

I like those ideas. Those T-taps seem to be a better option than the 'scotch loks" used on bigger wires. Yup, ground on each end and brake -in and lights - out on ends of the flasher. I like the 4 quick flashes followed by four slow and then solid.

    16 RT-L - wiring a modulating brake light?

This is the AMP 1.5mm 5-way that you mentioned and is it plug and play once assembled? https://www.amazon.com/TE-Connectivity-AMP-Superseal-Electrical/dp/B084KZ9K35?th=1

    16 RT-L - wiring a modulating brake light?

My 2016 RT-L doesn't have a trunk brake light. The accessory third brake lights are too expensive when I can do my own for way less. The pic is a 'rough-in" nothing finished and just balancing in place. I can get wires from the back side of the license plate up to the area above the left...

    16 RT-L - wiring a modulating brake light?

I have this flasher https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01F4OKWSG?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details and this light https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0028OQI8Y?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details Now I find there isn't a large enough flat surface on the back of the RT. Thinking about a bracket under...

    16 RT-L - wiring a modulating brake light?

I have a "Flash Strobe Controller Flasher Module for LED Brake Light" with two wires in and two wires out just like I used on my Vulcan Nomad. There I had it wired to a seperate 4LED strip and only tapped into the brake light system. Looking at the RTL brake lights I'm not so sure it could be...

What Analog gauge replacements did you use?

What are you replaceing the analog gauges with? I would like to have a volt meter and usb ports but not finding ones that will fill in the holes. Are there fillers that let a smaller item into the 2" holes in the dash? On another note, anyone using one of these...

16 RT-L showing Limp Mode, Parking brake warning, and check engine light! Why?

Have one but use it on the side opposite of the nut and use a small jack stand to hold it in place. Then I can use the socket on the nut because of the brake lines that get in the way.

16 RT-L showing Limp Mode, Parking brake warning, and check engine light! Why?

Sorry this thread seems never ending. . . Today I cheated and removed the muffler to get at the axle nut easier. I'm guessing some engineer got a bonus for deciding to use extra tough thread locker on the muffler hanger bolt. I cleaned off most of the BRP crap and just added some blue locktite...

16 RT-L showing Limp Mode, Parking brake warning, and check engine light! Why?

Yeah it really smelled when I got home from a 30 minute ride today. So off to mess with it again, later. Has anyone disconnected the rear speed sensor to prevent pissing off the nanny when running with the rear wheel jacked up?

16 RT-L showing Limp Mode, Parking brake warning, and check engine light! Why?

I wired in the Battery Tender connector and as long as the wires were off connected the cables together for about a half hour. I didn't seem to change anything. Finished the belt guard install and put everything back together and only had one push pin left over. Fired up the Spyder today -...

16 RT-L showing Limp Mode, Parking brake warning, and check engine light! Why?

I'll be wiring the pigtail for the battery tender before any test driving. I gather I should wait to do the 're-boot' after giving it all a chance to reset on it's own?
