• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Tires

After having read several of the tire discussions on the forum, I've pretty much decided on Schwinn bicycle tires for the fronts, and a Mickey Thompson N-50 Drag Racing tire for the rear. I'll be stylin....:ohyea:

    Shipping a Spyder

The dealer I bought my Spyder from recommended Motion Blue Travels to ship my bike to me. The guy was really good. You can look him up on Google. His name is Cedric. Not sure of his geographic coverage.

    Removing Pine Tree Sap

Try a product called "Goo Gone". It works on a heck of a lot of sticky residues, but I don't know if it is compatible with your cover, it could damage or remove color from it. It's available at a lot of places, Walmart, etc. Just Google Goo Gone...;)

    Helmet impact zones

Interesting stuff, thanks. Based on my ride this weekend, my front face shield contains a hidden target area for large insects, avoiding my front windshield altogether. Face shield has a 100% impact rating.

Water intrusion problems causing DESS failure on post-2013 RTs - how common is this?

Imo....the BRP Rep that was talking with Paul H. on this Forum should get on this thread and explain what the :cus: is going on with this. I have not had a problem yet , but have concerns about my 2017 RTS.

    2018 Models

I'm betting on the inclusion of Infinite Improbability Drive to replace the drive belt; and the addition of a Flux Capacitor on the left handgrip. I have some inside information on this.

Water Intrussion Problem with DESS Failure Code on 2015 RT Limited

So are you saying that BRP knows of this "design flaw", knows it affects many Spyders, and knows of the serious implications that it has (complete disabling of the trike)....but is not going to put out a Service Bulletin or Recall? That seems like totally strange behavior for a major company...

Rear Tire sliding on sharp twisties

Or as Tigger from Winnie the Pooh would say: "The terrible thing about tires, is that tires are a terrible thing...their tread is made of da rubber, and their wheels are attached to a spring!"

    Stopping distance-close call

Agree. Any time I see a line of traffic in a straight lane, with a wide-open turn lane (either right or left turn)...my Spidey-Senses start to tingle. If it's not someone cutting thru the line of traffic, it's someone cutting over from the straight lane to the turn lane after getting...

Buy 2017 or wait till 2018?

Bob, didn't you order a 2018 10th Anniversary Spyder? I don't recall seeing anything earth-shattering new on them in terms of performance or technology, but they did have an awesome paint scheme. It would seem if BRP had some real tricks up their sleeve, they would have surely put them on the...

Rear Tire sliding on sharp twisties

Using the word "Tire" in any thread title, subject line, or text body on this website is absolutely guaranteed to bring out extremely heated emotions...probably worse than Politics.:lecturef_smilie: I'm not gonna use the word Tire in here anymore. Oh crap, I just did. :yikes:

Left Turns/Curves Still a Problem For Me....

Sweeping left hand turns After a little over 2,000 miles on my RTS, I still find long sweeping left hand turns "interesting", especially the ones that are entrance ramps to Interstate highways. I agree with everything said previously about practice, body lean, foot pressure, push/pull on...

    Spyders vs. Rattlesnake

Bob, on top of "the rock" there is a horse riding farm with rental horses and overnight facilities (called The Seven Springs Lodge I think). They have old grain silos that they converted into hotel rooms . So you can ryde and then ride, if you butt can handle it. North Alabama Spyder...

    Spyders vs. Rattlesnake

I think so Bob, not sure. I walked back inside from stretching my legs and "that" was on the table. I think Adzgrrrl's front trunk exceeded weight limits with the leftovers on the ride back, and it will probably smell like assorted fried foods for a couple of weeks. :roflblack:

    Spyders vs. Rattlesnake

I forgot to mention that just before the turnoff for the Saloon, there was a giant road-kill rattler in the road. (no Pic of that guy). It was true laugh-out-loud moment

    Who's watching the eclipse?

I'm in N. Alabama and will be able to see 90% of it. I tried over TWO MONTHS ago to find a hotel further North in Tenn. Anything near the Line of Totality for the eclipse was sold out months prior. It's ok, I'll walk outside, watch it get dark, watch it get light again.

    Spyders vs. Rattlesnake

Me, Adzgrrrl, and her husband took a trip from Huntsville AL to the Rattlesnake Saloon. Great fun and great Ride! The Rattlesnake Saloon is an interesting place, it's build under a big rock (Pic 1). The interior decor can best be described as "Rustic-Threatening" (Pic 2). Adzgrrrl wasn't...

The latest MSF study of motorcycle crashes

Yes, I'm getting to the point where the idea of the "touring bike lifting technique" makes my back hurt even thinking about it....thus the Spyder (among other reasons).
