• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Can't disagree with anything you said Joe but I always look at commercials like that and wonder if the company really feels that way or if they're only saying that cause it plays well in middle-America. A lot of people had high praise for the Verizon first-responder's ad during the Super Bowl...

Progressive has been a good friend and sponsor to Spyderquest for quite a few years. Karen and her team are good people.

NYC CONGESTION PRICING HAS NO M/C EXEMPTION

Now the problem is you're assuming TPTB are actually interested in reducing traffic in Manhattan. They're not. They're just interested in the money.

Any particular destination in NY? Lots of good riding in the Catskills and Adirondacks.

    Who manufacturers Spyder radios?

On the Capabilities page of their web site there's an F3 in top picture so they're probably the right company.

    A Thread Worth Responding To

Furiously scribbling that one down on my list! One of the best road meals I've had was with the East Coast Posse at Texas Roadhouse on our ride out to Spyderfest two years ago. The food may not have been exceptional but the company sure was!

    Back from Maggie Valley!

Well TBH I didn't look for alignment setup. I just assumed (!) they were doing them at Maggie Valley.

    Back from Maggie Valley!

Netzley Tire came down from NY and I'm sure they were doing alignments. Not sure if Spyderpops was.

Chances of a plug in electric Spyder...

BRP built a prototype a while back; we saw it during the tours at Homecoming. IIRC they said to get any decent range it would have to be extremely heavy and they couldn't actually get enough battery in it. I'm sure someone will correct my faulty memory soon :p

Will the Ryker price hurt resale of 998 models?

The thinking is that with the reduced prices on RT's and F3's you won't see nearly as many huge rebates, if any. Sales volume will tell.

    BREAK-IN OIL

Last year at the factory tour during homecoming they showed the platform at the end of the line where they run the bikes up through all the gears and at various throttle settings while the computer verifies everything is running fine. Break-in oil? I don't know. Are the bikes started and tested...

    shifting

2014 3 cylinder was the RT only. RS and ST still had the twin and did right up to the end of their production. In 2015 the F3 came along and got the 3 cylinder too.

Welcome! Glad you found us! There's a big Spyder rally going on next week in Lake George; any chance you'd be able to come up?

How many bars for heat do you see on your GS/RS V-Twins?

Consistently 4 bars on my ST. As someone else said, on really hot days in stop and go traffic it might touch 5 but goes right back down as soon as I start moving. On chilly mornings it may stay at 3 bars for a while but eventually settles at 4.

    shifting

I try to shift by sound but sometimes I have trouble hearing the engine so I'll peek at the tach. I shift between 5500 and 6000. I usually downshift manually to 2nd but then let the computer do the 2 - 1 downshift.
