• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    windshield

IMHO, a very difficult question to answer because windshield choice is very personally-dependent, much like seat choice, and depends on a number of variables; what works for some, just won't suit another. Things to consider: - do you want to look over or through your shield?, - do you need it to...

Returing to riding after many years away

Similar thoughts and feelings here ... I'm another old goat who returned after a long absence. I was 76 years and 3 months when I took delivery of my 2017 F3L. It had been 38 years since I had swung a leg over a two-wheeler and gone down a road; but since my 'M' licence had been automatically...

Love, love, love those TN, NC, WV, VA mountain roads

Indeed, JayBros, you are so right!!! Happily for me, Red Fun and I intend to keep scratching the itch to ryde those hills until we're absolutely exhausted. Both you and blacklightning have been past sources for our encouragement, and we thank you immensely. Already working on next year's routes...

Love, love, love those TN, NC, WV, VA mountain roads

Cautionary note: this is just one Old Fart's opinion, and a northern foreigner at that. Also, I'm in no way an expert, or even a long-riding, experienced motorcyclist. I just returned to this stuff 2-1/2 years ago, after nearly 40 year's absence; but since my 'M' license was still valid, I opted...

    F3L fuel info

It may very well be that your wife is only putting about 5 gallons into her F3 tank when filling up. The F3 can hold 7 gallons, but automatic gas pump handles tend to shut off well before the tank is completely full. F3 seems to be notorious for this. So, you are both probably burning off 5 gals...

    Some early 3-wheel vehicle history

Came across a book a while back with some neat photos of vintage automobiles, including early 3-wheel 'cycle cars', as they were referred to. Thought others might also enjoy seeing some fore-runners of our modern day Slingshots and Spyders. "Veteran and Vintage Cars"; photo credits to B T...

    Parade decorations on my Spyder

There's often a way to have some fun and add a little humor to a parade ..... Photos from a Canada Day parade, 1 July 2019. I pulled my trailer and went last in a group of Spyders (with a few Harley/GW guests). Old Show Biz saying: "Leave 'em laughing!"

is Xceen screen on route 129 will help on windgust?

I ride with an MRA X-creen ('clamp-on' version) attached to the short stock 'sport' shield on our 2017 F3L. It pushes the wind higher and over our heads (rider and pillion passenger), but does allow a fair bit to come around the sides. This side air goes well past the outsides of our helmets, so...

Motorcycle accidents - Why we're not always seen

Thanks, cruisinTX. And equally to all who have responded and participated in the debate... While I'm responsible for posting this reference to Prof. Chapman's research, I have always heretofore been more attracted to the 'situational blindness' school of thought. I do, however, find it...

Motorcycle accidents - Why we're not always seen

An extremely interesting discussion took place today on the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corp.) program "Quirks and Quarks", concerning research by Prof. Peter Chapman, of the University of Nottingham (England), into "WHY" motorcycles get involved in accidents with other vehicles and apparently...

    General questions:

As your question is posted under F3 - Sport and Cruiser Touring, I'm assuming you are asking in respect of F3 models, though not specifically stated as such. We ride a 2017 F3L, with the 1330 cc 'Triple' - pretty much stock equipment. We ryde 2-up about 80% of the time, and do mostly back...

This is Albania... nope, not Alabama, Albania with F3s 🤟

Hi Martin: You are far too kind in your comments about my travel adventures in Europe "way back when". You are certainly no rookie, and I was always far from being expert in anything. Simply put: we both love to travel and see new sites. I wish you well in your future rydes on 'The Beast'...

This is Albania... nope, not Alabama, Albania with F3s 🤟

Thanks for the views of Albania, Martin; most enjoyable. 49 years ago, as a late-blooming 'flower child' wandering around Europe, and in the process of traveling by VW camper bus from Paris to Athens, via the Dalmatian coast of (the-then) Yugoslavia, several friends and I tried to enter Albania...

    Florida in February

Seminole Power Sports has shops in Sanford and Tavares, each perhaps an hour's ride from Daytona. They sell and service Spyders along with other makes. Here's a toll free # - 1 800-843-5118; you could ask about rental possibilities.

    Are Spyder sales Declining Fast?

Further to billybovine's #7 post above (BRP's first quarter results for this year), they have just released, today, their 2nd quarter results - see: https://www.american-stock-research.com/brp-inc-q2-2020-earnings-report-30aug2019.html - which appear to show a further increase/improvement...

    Trailer size

I think you'd have great difficulty (if not impossibility) squeezing your F3T onto a 5' utility trailer. Your Spyder itself has a 5' wide track; you need manouvering room to safely load it. I haul my 2017 F3L (same machine) on a purpose-built aluminum trailer made to haul a slightly wider RT. I...

    Newbie ?which Spyder?

As Spyder owners for the past 2+ years, (13,000 mi), my lady and I do ryding similar in style to what you describe as your planned use. My advice would be: 1- take the Spyder course, then get your m/c driving licence if you don't already have it; 2- visit a dealer with your wife and ask to take...

    The Elephant in My Room

To LifeLongRider: Is it really an elephant in your room? Or is it actually more of a mouse that you have unfortunately imagined to be larger than it really is? I believe that BajaRon is right when he suggests (above) that it's all a matter of perspective. Glass half full, or half empty sort of...
