• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Strapping RTL to utility trailer?

You don't mention how far you intend to trailer your new (to you) Spyder. Follow above instructions. Snug each wheel down securely. Make sure any rings, posts, strap attachment points on the trailer are strong, secure and unlikely to break or let loose in event of a panic stop. You are hauling a...

Suggestion: Swapping windshield for Daytona F3

I'm not that familiar with the windshield on your Daytona, so you'd have to explore whether or not an X-creen will work. There are different models for different makes of bikes; you could ask the seller or manufacturer if there is a specific product for the Spyder Daytona. I can tell you the...

Suggestion: Swapping windshield for Daytona F3

Not sure whether the question is directed at me, but assuming it was, the clamp-on wind deflector is called an MRA X-Creen 'Tour'. Just Google and you will find it available on Amazon, RevZilla, etc. It has many adjustments which allow for air to be directed in several different flow patterns...

Suggestion: Swapping windshield for Daytona F3

Instead of buying a second, larger windshield that you would swap out occasionally with your stock shield, to give you more wind protection for highway speeds (necessitating changing shields back and forth - bolting, unbolting, re-bolting, etc.), maybe you can investigate adding an X-creen...

    Parking

Common sense has a lot to do with whether you can/should utilize m/c parking and will/will not get hassled for doing so with a Spyder. Should be quite legal, unless otherwise specified or clearly stated that you can't use more than one designated m/c space. Would a two-wheeler with a sidecar get...

    Thinking of making a trade

FWIW, I believe an F3L should weigh in about 50 lbs. lighter than an RTL, comparably dressed (I've always figured mine at 950). If it matters, the tracking width of the F3L is a couple of inches narrower than the RTL; not certain how that compares to your current STL. Length-wise, the rear edge...

    Dragon or Rattler?

Here's a twisty ride in NC-TN that I have been contemplating doing in late Oct. this year. Planning on an overnight in Little Switzerland with an early morning start next day. Heading south on the "Diamondback", Hwy 226A down close to Marion, then west to 80 and north (recommended above by...

    Dragon or Rattler?

A few comments from a Canadian ryder who loves to stop in this area every fall, on my way south to FL for the winter. I try to get in several days of twisties and hills in this amazingly beautiful part of America. You can't go wrong choosing just about any road; a number of good ones have been...

    Covering your Spyder

Here's a link to a previous discussion about use of trailering covers when towing Spyders on open trailers. It may help (or not). https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?116958-Can-Am-OEM-Trailering-Cover&p=1407558#post1407558

    Thinking of making a trade

Just to be clear, our F3L has cruise control, and I believe an F3T would also have it. Beyond that, the short, stock, 'sport' windshield that comes with the F3L/T should present no problem for hauling backward in your pick-up. And, if you go that route and find you want a little more height to...

    Sena Headset and accessories

When we bought our 2017 F3L two years ago, we added a set of Sena SMH 10's to our new helmets so that we could easily talk to each other while riding 2-up. The Sena's will each pair to 4 other units; the first job was to pair with each other, leaving three more possibilities. I paired my driver...

After owning one, are you guys still hype with it, compared to before you owned it?

Absolutely lovin' it. Never in doubt about wanting to take it out. In fact, it's been so much fun that both my boats hardly get used anymore. Spyder has become the 'toy of choice'. Also use it to run errands that don't require my truck.

1330cc What kind of average Fuel milage do you get?

2017 F3L here. Just rolled past the 20,000 km mark (13,000 mi). Random checks over past two years show we are averaging 6L per 100 km, or around 40 mpg US. Lately, we have been getting closer to 43 mpg US, or around 50 mpg using Imperial (British) gallon. That's riding two-up about 80% of time...

    A 'beefy' DIY Spyder

My lady and I went out for a countryside lunch trip yesterday. Decided to investigate a few back roads in Central and Eastern Ontario. Stopped for lunch in the pretty little town of Bancroft. Parked our red F3L at "Granite", and went in to eat. Came back out and found this 'beefy' Spyder...

    Thinking of making a trade

Some things to consider... IF you decide not to keep your 2013 STL, you can move up to a 1330 engine RTL or F3L; either one will serve your needs for two-up touring/cruising and do it well. Some folks like the RTL, others prefer the F3L (or T). Best that you test ride both; take your wife with...

Long Solo Trips - What Did You Learn About Yourself?

Great question, Left Coast; thanks for posting it: Approaching 80 years now... have travelled solo often, and been many, many miles... in various parts of the World... lots of time to ponder the mysteries of life..... If I had my druthers and could do it over, I'd slow down somewhat, not rush...

    Has Miliage

Just filled up from most recent ryde on 2017 F3L- 412 km (256 miles); took 22.9 L (6 gals). That's about 5.6 L/100 km (close to 43 mpg US). We were ryding two-up (combined weight 365 lbs) on gently rolling back country roads doing about 80 km/h or 50 m/hr average on a warm day here 29C or 84F...

Ultimate Seat Question? (Intense Pearl Red Spyder)

Phone Des or Dave and ask about the color you want; I always get confused because one red seat color on their site looks to be OK, but they told me I actually have the other. They are good people, and they'll sort it out so that you get the right match. Seat performs well; doubled my ryding time...
