• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Which F3 Limited Windshield?

I have a 2017 F3L; I'm now trying out my 4th windshield type, so feel I can speak to a number of points raised here. Of course, it is necessary to first understand that windshields, like seats, tires, etc., are very much a matter of personal preference - what suits one guy is terrible for the...

Has anyone installed satellite radio on 2018-19?

Billy, I don't know if this is of interest to you or others in this situation or not, but here goes: When I bought my 2017 F3L, I wanted to get sound from the radio into my helmet. We bought Sena 10's and paired up the wife and I to communicate; also added my Zumo 590 and cell phone. Was told...

Clunk When putting into Gear - is it normal, or what?

I believe you're going to find that Spyders are notorious for making a loud 'clunking' sound when first shifting into gear, either forward or reverse. My 2017 F3L was so noisy at first as to be scary; I kept thinking "What broke?" 12,000 miles later, it's still making the same shifting 'clunk' -...

    RTL MPG Question

We're riding a 2017 F3L; same 1330 motor as RTL. We do two-up about 80% of the time, and have 12,000 miles on odometer. Spyder is pretty much stock. When riding back country roads doing sightseeing, averaging probably 55 mph, we routinely go 250 miles (400 km) before filling up, and have...

WOW... we were SOOOO LUCKY (not to be in BIG trouble)

Agree; tie-downs are crucial to safe trailering. In fact, I use 5 separate straps for my Spyder. Some would call this 'over-kill', but I believe in 'fail-safe' systems. Taking the extra precaution only adds a few minutes time. I have a separate strap for each wheel, through the bottom of the...

WOW... we were SOOOO LUCKY (not to be in BIG trouble)

Thanks for your insight Mike... very valuable advice, and much appreciated!!! I agree, tires were getting on; I was planning to replace. Should have done it sooner. Tires weren't covered, but trailer is stored in semi-shaded areas, and tires were up on paving stones rather than bare earth...

WOW... we were SOOOO LUCKY (not to be in BIG trouble)

Two years ago, I bought us a used aluminum trailer to haul our Spyder south in order to ryde in FL all winter. A friend had the trailer built to haul his own RT; he then got a toy hauler, and I bought his trailer for our F3L. It was in good shape, with decent rubber. He had made the return trip...

    Stability at Freeway Speed?

Our 2017 F3L is pretty much a 'stock' vehicle, with only slight modifications to seat - no added sway bar, belt tensioner, etc. We ride two-up about 80% of the time. Mostly, we prefer back country, 'secondary' highway cruising averaging probably 50 mph. However, we have ridden on occasion on...

Insurance time again - So I'm shopping around!

Insurance rates in Ontario, for Spyders, are outrageously high, especially in comparison to the US rates I see being charged. Just renewed my Co-operators policy - $1,000 annually for my 2018 RAM 1500 pickup; $1300+ for my 2017 F3L Spyder. The truck is more valuable than the bike. What is...

    Passenger specifications

You really need to do test rides of both the RTL and the F3L to make a true comparison. Give your passenger lots of say in the choice. Wind buffeting and also seating comfort will be different between the two. As Peteoz has said, the RT will give you the possibility of electronically adjustable...

How many "Bar marks" are on your heat gauge when warm?

I'd have to agree with other responders... after two summers of riding in Canada, and two winters of riding in Florida (pretty much meaning that my 2017 F3L is ridden year-round), my heat gauge usually registers 4 bars fairly steadily once I'm warmed up and rolling. It doesn't seem to matter...

Towing your Spyder between two homes

That's a very interesting looking piece of equipment; some great features. Hope it checks out well for you. Likely won't be too difficult to find a buyer if you tire of it, so probably a reasonable investment gamble too. Good luck.

Trailer rock guard - how important is it?

Thanks for the 'heads-up' Peter. This (reverse stone chip damage) is something I had never even been aware of, nor given any thought to. Good to know!!! Also appreciated is the 'consumer's guide' to regional Aussie brews; may come in handy someday. ;)

Trailer rock guard - how important is it?

I think anytime you have a vertical surface on a trailer behind you there is likely to be some drag; it would take wind tunnel tests to determine just where and how much. However, I also believe, as Jack has suggested, that drag will likely be less with a stone guard (low at front of trailer)...

Towing your Spyder between two homes

Before I even picked up my new Spyder F3L in June 2017, I went looking for a suitable trailer once I had decided to buy the bike. Why? Living in Ontario meant that I would be a 7-month rider, at best, each year. But, we also have a place in Central Florida, and I wanted the Spyder to get maximum...

Trailer rock guard - how important is it?

Here's my experience: I haul my 2017 F3L on a light aluminum trailer (350 #) much like an Aluma, but even more open, since I have only 3 panel tracks for the wheels (see pic). No rock guard. I have hauled with a Jeep Grand Cherokee and now with my 1500 RAM pick up. So far, no known rock or...

    Wait for it ........................

Well, after being teased and told that my 3-wheel F3L Spyder is really just "an old man's ride", and made for those too scared to climb on 2 wheels, and too rich to worry about cost.... and now seeing the Ryker.... which I'm told is meant for the younger crowd who have less money and want...

    F3-T Heated Passenger Grips (?)

I really can't give you a helpful answer as I have really only ridden my F3L to any extent, and an RTL briefly when 'test' riding. Haven't been on a base F3 or an F3T. Others here have more comparative experience. The 'T' has a larger sprocket (more teeth), and therefore has more 'grunt' power...
