• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    auto versus manual transmission opinion

Pros for SM: you can smoothly coast you can bump start a manual SM5/6 is $1500-1800 cheaper Cons for SM: clutch gets old in heavy traffic. can't have BRP floorboards on the SM models. Pros for SE: Resale value is higher and it's a lot easier to resell the SE's (more demand) Your...

    Can we talk...

That pretty much says it all. The ST feels like the RS after adding all the touring farkles to it like so many GS/RS owners have done/did. If 2015 will bring a new motor to the ST it might be worth the upgrade. Here's the thing: BRP came out with several new ACE engines this year (2014)...

I got my reply. In fewer words, they said no. Hope you have more clout with them.

    Unhappy Dealer

I was told that the dealers have tiers (such as Platinum dealer etc.) which change the rules by which they can price and sell vehicles, parts and accessories. Also, to maintain their tier, they need to purchase X of each different BRP line... so X sleds, Y boats, Z spyders... This is how they...

I talked with BRP for a rebate for 2013 to 2014

Thank you for correcting that and I appreciate the words of encouragement. We appear to be a subset of a those 5000 owners who need action... however the corrective measures BRP comes up need to help all 2013 owners. The chance of fire has been greatly reduced with the recall BRP already has...

    First Ride of 2014 RT

the video said: That's the first I've heard of this. Unless they are mistakenly talking about the adjustable rear airbag, which really won't impact "sway at speed" Did I miss something? I would love an electronically controlled front shock setup.

How many 2013 ST(S) owners have heat issues?

melted MC cap at 2600 miles one of the pre-recall fixes applied by brp boiling/sizzling gas when low very high heat in the inner thigh and crotch area when over 85F ambient (as in 1st degree burns) measured under seat temps (gas cap area) of 300F after interstate travel. extreme gas vapors when...

I talked with BRP for a rebate for 2013 to 2014

Absolutely... However I think they do have an obligation to make them last longer than the warranty. The kind of heat under the tupperware is the kind the damages rubber hoses and destroys electronics. It might take some time but we've already seen brake master cylinder caps melt (recall...

I talked with BRP for a rebate for 2013 to 2014

My 2013 STS is worth 60% of what I paid for it on trade in if that tells you anything... time to shop around the tradins. One thing to remember is that if you never go far or ride in 90+ temps you don't have these heat issues. I still ride mine to work every day and when I get home it's not...

I talked with BRP for a rebate for 2013 to 2014

You're not alone. Everyone who is legitimately having heat issues and/or is concerned for the longevity of their 2013 (all models) due to heat issues should contact BRP and your dealer daily. It starts with us providing the information they need in the way they need it. Your feelings go to...

    2014 Radiator Protection

yep, I'm more worried about light debris getting in there, bags, paper, leaves. Us urbanites don't worry so much about rocks

Will the 2014 ST be Kool or Cool?

Not always. They've taken care of several owners in the past. I just don't know they'll take care of everyone with a 2013 without heavy motivation (things catching fire motivates them.)

Road Position Saved My Life Today.

Even on the track they teach us how to push it without reaching the limits for very long. Braking a little more going into a turn, then late apexing a corner before rolling on the throttle puts you out of harms way that much longer, and minimizes the duration of time that you are near the end...

    Here's a look at the 2014 Can-Am Spyder lineup

Eco mode tells you when to shift. 1st to 2nd at 1800rpm. 2nd to 3rd at 1950. 3rd and beyond at 2100. Because of the clutch design you cannot damage it by shifting too soon. There is no centrifugal clutch anymore. yes, it's on the top left side, you can remove the y-panel and get to it much...

Now that the 2014's have been announced

The reviews I've read so far say the RT's are basically a tie 0-60 but 60-80 it stomps the older 991 models. 1,012 lb 2014 RT vs 699 lbs 2009 GS. That's 45% heavier. 96 ft-lbs vs 77 ft-lbs or 25% more peak torque. But at lower rpm, there's 40% more torque which is more usable in day to day...

    2013 Heat issue

Exactly. I think the side panels will be essential to a decent lifespan for the 2013 ST. No idea what the 2013 RT's should do as the path BRP chose for them is not something you can retrofit. I love the ST, the looks, the feel... but I'm beginning to think a 2014 RT might be in my future.

    2013 Heat issue

The MC cap melts at highway speeds, not slow speeds. One good long ride on the Interstate when it's 90F+ out will melt it thru. The temps under plastic reach insane levels (300F+) at highway cruise rpms. 1 up, no traffic. I suspect people that haven't had it melt yet don't ever do 400+ miles...
