• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Self Leveling

I'm happy with the RTL. I kind of like *not* having to mess with suspension leveling/pre-load issues. That's a perk in a lot folks minds.

    Something new and questions

Welcome to the Spyder world! This very day today, I just delivered my 2001 Apollo Blue Goldwing to its new home. I too bought a new 2018 RT Limited - my knees have issues with the kneecaps riding unevenly and causing sharp tendinitis pains at times. I have to exercise them often to keep it...

    Hot ankles

86 over in New Mexico. Had to take the liners out of the mesh jacket.

    Picked up my Rally today.......question

You have to wonder how the CVT's clutch engages while coasting. With a centrifugal clutch, it's the engine speed that engages it, so, if you're coasting down hill, you've got no engine brake function until you hop on the gas....

    DESS Key code again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you look at what appears to be an ignition unit on the parts fiche, you'll notice it's labeled DESS Antenna. That's gonna be your weakest link as it's a mechanical part. Certainly, 'retrying' the whole key thing fits in with that scenario. Depending on the *design* of the DESS system and...

    Battery Tender?

Yes, I have one of that model with the display and handlebar hook, and two of the brick-style models. All came with both pigtail and clamp battery connects, and cost significantly less than 'Battery Tender' equivalents.

    Army's new uniform

Heh, I used to tease my brother, a retired Col., about those dress blue pants with the stripes on the side. Told him they look like 'prisoner' pants...:roflblack:

    Battery Tender?

The Schumacher's maintainers look to be a better value than some of the Battery Tender branded models. I have three of them. For the price, they have better amperage, and they CAN charge a fully discharged battery. Nice and slow - the way a motorcycle battery is supposed to be charged. IMHO...

    DESS Key code again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brp's system sounds like a sort of RFID system to me, a topic which I am quite familiar with. AFAIK, these keys have no batteries, and it's rare for a batteryless RFID chip to go bad. The dealer is on the right path, start with the antenna element and work your way back to the reader module.

    Sticker Shock!

https://www.cyclegear.com/_a/product_images/0264/6317/helmet_lok_ii_helmet_lockwith_cable_750x750.jpg I use this. Got it when it was on sale. Just lock the helmets to the passenger handrails and leave on the seat. It's just enough security that it's obvious to a potential thief that they're not...

    Flex fuel, 88 & Crosswinds

The OP had an interesting observation on wind buffeting. I say that, because my experience is different. I find the stability of my RTL phenomenal in a crosswind. I think I might be a bit biased though as high-winds is an everyday event New Mexico. I remember appreciating the weight of my...

    Genius Maps-Again

Heh, Heh.... I mostly use cruise control. Those back roads love to change speed though, every little whistle-stop town. My Dad used to judge the size of those towns by whether, when he'd spit out his tobacco chew, if he'd make it to the other side by the time it hit the ground. ;)

    Anyone make armored chaps?

You're not gonna do a low-sider on a Spyder - that's for sure. A *major* wreck on a spyder and it's over the top...

    Mountain Switchbacks - be careful

I knew that Spyder's had a nanny... I suppose to make the experience complete we have to have 'em on the forum as well? I am the OP. I was commenting about my mountain ride, on my Spyder, and what I observed. You can certainly flip a Spyder as well on those switchbacks, given the wrong speed...

    Genius Maps-Again

I do like the MPH nanny in Genius maps. Nothing more irksome than a speed trap.

    Mountain Switchbacks - be careful

Decided to take a ride up to the peak of Sandia Mountain on the spyder. This was following a short cloud burst, which I had figured would pass as they tend to do out here. Anyway, coming down the mountain I came across an ambulance, a pack of two-wheeler sport bikes, and the park ranger...

BRP "Sytstem" resulting in lost customer

I dunno... I just ordered a driver back rest online from BRP on Sunday evening, picked it up from the dealer on Thursday. 3-4 days has been avg for as long as I can remember buying parts for MC's.
