• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Madstad Windshield

Do you need a Madstadt bracket, a windshield, or both? I run the Madstadt bracket with a BRP touring windshield on it and it works well for myapplication. I could see where someday the windshield would need to be replaced but I would expect the bracket to last as long as the bike. As for...

Smoothspyder belt tensioner vs Baker belt stabilizer

I don't mind the whine but I am going to try this and see what happens. Then if I hit a deer it is your fault..like that is going to matter.

Which model of Drop Tail trailer recommended?

I am in the market for a Droptail. Can you tell me the model of Droptail that you bought? Why so hard to tie it down?

Smoothspyder belt tensioner vs Baker belt stabilizer

Smoothspyder. It does sound like a turbocharger and I have not seen a deer or dog since I put it on 17,000 miles ago.

    NEED HELP FINDING A....

I think I have one of those that I will give you. Let me know and I will go look through my cabinet of unused Spyder things. I am not saying they are bad BTW. I use a Throttlemeister that does the job for me.

    Tour of the Central Coast

I just got back from Pismo Beach about an hour ago. There is plenty of gas the way you are going but...... Do yourself a favor and when you get to Hollister on hwy 152 take hwy 25 south. 75 miles of undulating hills and if you see more than 12 cars on this stretch I will buy your gas. Then...

    Belt Tensioner

There are very few modifications that I have made to my Spyder that have made as much difference as a belt tensioner. I use a Smoothspyder. Early production Spyders had a much tighter belt tension and at that time there was no belt flapping. We had rear bearing wearing out and front sprockets...

    WWII vets and/or history buffs??

I do live in a good place. More to the point is that WWII vets are dying off pretty fast. I have one that lives next door to me and he and his wife just celebrated their 70th anniversary. Yikes! In any case he was married and landing on islands in the Pacific at an age when most of us had not...

    WWII vets and/or history buffs??

I live in a community where we have raised money to send every WWII vet that lives here back to DC to get the honor that they deserve. All of them were pretty much overwhelmed with the experience.

    Spyder Fever

The basic model is simpler so it tends to have less problems. It is lighter and has a stronger engine than more recent models. While the early models had a few significant problems, they were addressed by the factory. Newer models seem to have the same number and no less significant problems...

What Do You Do When You Aren't Riding?

I play outfield and pinch run. I am still pretty fast for an old guy.

What Do You Do When You Aren't Riding?

Senior League Softball. I played in my 110th game of the year yesterday. I play for four separate teams, two of which travel. And I write plays that eventually get published. I don't fit the 'biker' stereotype, whatever that is.

To RideON or Not To RideON

People here seem to love it. I went along with the crowd and it cause my tires to go out of balance and that could not be fixed until I removed the Ride on. Of course when you first put it in your tires you will have a severe out of balance for the first couple of miles but that goes away...

    Going Bananas

What he said. I look at my oil every few thousand miles. I check the air pressure maybe twice a year. My bike covers more ground than most and I have this goofy grin on my face all the time I am one it. Bad news will find you without you looking for it.

Got a swerve maybe DPS on 2013 RT

Get it checked out. If it is the DPS problem it may not repeat for another 10,000 miles. That does not make the bike safe to ride. It can kill you and at the least it will scare the heck out of you. I went through 3 DPS units on #610 in 45,000 miles. Eventually I had enough. I reported it...

    Does adding fuel additives hurt?

I use Techron injector cleaner every 5 or 10 thousand miles. It makes the fuel gauge read low by 30-50% for a couple of tanks. So it is having some effect.

Got a swerve maybe DPS on 2013 RT

This sounds exactly like what happened to the early Spyders with the DPS problem. Ask me how I know. It is what got me off of #610. The original problem was that the DPS would intermittently quit. Then when you had to steer the operator would put input into the steering. When it would not...

08 GS Running tail lights out!

Change your rear bulbs out every three years and avoid the hassle of your bike going into limp mode. I do not understand the logic of having a bike stop when the stop lights go out. It seems like they are taking a bad situation and making it worse.

Cajun Spyder Ryders - "The Hot Ride"

I just spent a week in Grand Isle. People who have not been there only can imagine what hot is really like. Great food and great people though. Signed: transplanted cajun

    when to replace tires?

What he said: 15k on the rear. 30K plus on the fronts. Read the wear indicators and go with that.
