• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    How fun would this be!

I know a guy who has managed to buy an ex-pro racing bicycle (like, actually used in the Tour de France). He says it's like being able to drive an F1 car to breakfast on the weekends. :2thumbs:

I believe the Ryker has this feature....

    Changes for 2020?

Interestingly enough, now that the 2020s have been brought out - the F3 accessories are back on the web site. ;)

What color raingear do you wear?

I was wearing a silver-gray suit on an overcast day last spring and almost got killed. Guy driving over the limit came flying up on me and locked up his brakes, going off into the ditch. (Nothing I could have done, I was boxed in at the time.) Put me down for Hi-Viz all the way.

    Wrong oil???

It sounds like a case of "Don't worry about it now, but go ahead and change it out for the right stuff ASAP."

    Ryker Rally Oil plugs access?

Well, that's one way to do it!! ;) On a related note, I was in the local HD dealership a while back and noticed that they sell a low-profile drain pan. Doublewalled, with the top making a funnel. I think the whole thing was only 2" or 3" thick. May be the answer to avoid jacks and ramps.

    Trip to Europe

There was a thread a while back (on ADV Rider?) about riding in the various countries in Europe. Apparently there are some obscure rules and regulations to follow. Carrying hazard flags, wearing gloves, etc. etc. Just the kind of thing a visitor might not know about and could cause (hopefully...

    F4 Customs Vs Canamspyderaccessories Windshield

Anybody use the F4 on an F3 (not F3T or F3L)?

    Changes for 2020?

Nothing terribly specific here. But I will note that I wanted to see how the Shad cases look on an F3; I went to the configure-your-Spyder page on BRPs web site and I notice a LOT of accessories for the F3 are marked as "unavailable". Has anyone else noticed this? Does this mean that they shut...

Helmet ventilation and cooling for hot desert riding?

I use a Shoei with decent venting. When I've been riding for a while I can't feel the vents doing anything; stop at a light or something, and I can really feel the cool when I take off again (after some sweat has a chance to accumulate.) I will point out though, behind a windshield the helmet...

3 Bag Ryker & Passenger Spot

Looks like nice fabrication. I would be a bit concerned with having the weight so high and far to the rear. If you carry a passenger it changes the calibration of the VSS, have you engaged that switch?

    F3 Hand Guards

I would have thought that, if the guards blocked the mirrors - so would your hands....

    Handlebars

Makes me think that they should be a fitting tool - go to the dealer, sit on a Spyder, adjust the tri-axis bars to the right position, and buy a plain-'ol handlebar to mimic that position.

    F3-T: First Ryde Report

Try Grip Puppies or something similar - a foam wrap which slides over your grips. Easy on easy off, much easier than installing new grips and you can see if the diameter increase / vibration damping make a difference for you.

    F3 Hand Guards

I put some handguards on my V-Strom, they were SUzuki OEM accessories so they fit like they were purpose-built (ha). As noted earlier, they are wonderful in cold weather, and they keep bugs and pebbles from smacking your knuckles in warm weather.

Using auto tires on any spyder

Back in the wayback days I had a Fiat car, the shop machines wouldn't fit the small center hole on the Fiat rims so I had to mount my new tires by hand with tire irons. I don't remember it being that big a deal. Fortunately, the spin balancer fit no problem.

    Squealing Brakes

+1 for pad lube, especially considering it's at light load slowing to a stop.

    Help

I was thinking about fuel starvation too, but I keep going back to "LEFT-handed sweepers". Is there anything that could account for that? Swinging pickup in the fuel tank maybe? Unless somehow the VSS is cutting power on left handers, and it might be a bad sensor as suggested by Poll.

    Ryker Ryders, where are you????

I have talked to the local dealer in Tucson, they told me they've sold at least a dozen Rykers. Phoenix isn't that far away, and they've probably sold several times as many. I *might* have seen one Ryker on the road a while back, it was over my shoulder and I didn't get a good look at it.
