• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New 2017 F3T Battery not holding a charge

experience I don't know how smart I am, but in thirty five years working for the Bell System, I made many mistakes and tried to learn from them. But thanks for the compliment anyway.

New 2017 F3T Battery not holding a charge

voltage loss Have the battery load tested (it's usually free) if it's OK, then start looking for a 12 volt accessory pulling power with the bike off. I'd start with things like GPSs and radios, then go to any electrical accessories that you've had added to the bike. If you have to go that...

New 2017 F3T Battery not holding a charge

F3 Battery I haven't changed mine, but I have worked on and around it a lot adding electrical systems. It's not hard, just pull the rivets holding the Frunk in, pull the Frunk which takes some pressing and twisting and you have full access to the battery, battery mounts and fuse panels...

    Wifeless rider

trailering My wife loves local rides, but is uncomfortable with more than two hours on the F3 so we trailer it for long distance and use it for exploring near our destination. I wouldn't mind longer rides, but don't want to leave my wife out of the fun. The day will come all to soon when...

    Base F3, SM6

Me too I also have what started out as a base SM6 F3. It's changed a lot since I bought it. The latest addition is the Tricled LEDs for the fender channels. They really look like a factory installed part. Still have farkles to add; every time I think the end is in sight, I find new stuff...

    2015 F3 anything before I buy

2 up shock My wife talked me into trying the CanAm two up shock instead of spring for the more expensive Elka. To my surprise it did the job and I'm pushing 280 pounds. I'd still go for the stage 2 or 3 Elkas if price isn't a problem. The Can AM is about $200.00 and the Elka is about...

    2015 F3 anything before I buy

photo I don't have a photo and can't unbolt the eat right now, but as I remember it's a flat steel bar that goes across the frame rails towards the rear of the seat.

    2015 F3 anything before I buy

frame brace Yes there is a recall. The brace is under the rider's seat. I'd have the dealer check to see if it's been done. I bought my 2015 F3 used with 175 miles on it and the dealer installed the brace before they sold it to me.

You don't know how good you have it!

reminds me This site reminds me of the Catalina 27 site when I had one. A bunch of people sharing the love of a hobby and tech tips. That site is more tech tips and project hints, but the fellowship is the same. One big difference is that there were fewer (seven thousand or so) Catalina 27s...

    Lost Keyyy

key I dropped my key on a trip to Santa Barbara. Looked for over an hour and coouldn't find it. Called AAA for a locksmith on the hope that I had locked it in the frunk with my gloves. Just before the locksmith arrived a passer-by found the key thirty feet from the bike on the ground. Now...

living In life crap always happens. Good crap or bad crap, it doesn't really matter; it's all about the weaving of your life. Ride out the bad crap and enjoy the good crap and don't worry about the crap moving towards you. You can deal with it as it arrives. As my wife says, life is like a...

Looks like we all bought the wrong thing

derivation Aren't Urals basically WWII era BMW R75s? From the photos I have seen, they look like the Russians just looted the BMW tooling and started producing them in 1945 without the blackout light and machine gun mount.

    Doubts with battery charge

solar I use a solar panel to keep the house batteries on my RV charged and it works well. The only issue I see for him is that it sounds like his parking area is unsecured. Unless he can figure out a way to lock the panel to the Spyder, It's going to grow legs sooner or later. One...

    Trailer for my Spyder

nose clearance I had exactly that problem with my trailer. What I did because I liked the short trailer was to cut out the center section of the forward bulkhead and pad the vertical supports so the Spyder wasn't damaged if it bounced up against either of the verticals. One piece of advice, I...

    Trailer for my Spyder

width Measure the width of the trailer between the superstructure. The utility trailer I bought only was four inches wider than the fenders of my F3 and it was such a nightmare that I had to cut off the superstructure with a band saw. I couldn't move the wheels more than a few degrees as I...

Had an Accident; Advice on New Spyder

more punch I think to clear an obstruction quickly you need more punch than a mini-gun or even a GAU8. Photon Torpedos or a large Gauss Rifle would do the trick. The problem is you'd have to invent the Photon Torpedo first and the Gauss Rifle is a power hog and you'd need to pull a trailer...

Oh Bob !!!!! Grow your own

cost effectiveness I've never heard of ANY hobby that is cost effective. Hobbies are for enjoyment, not profit. I can buy a mass produced item far cheaper than I can build it, but I like to take pride in my craftsmanship and do things for myself.

What Loud Horns are available for Spyders?

I just installed a two piece Denali Soundbomb on my F3. It's plenty loud and has a distinctive sound like a expensive Italian sports car. I used the two piece to make mounting easier. I mounted the heavy compressor on the factory horn mount and placed the lighter horn itself in the air plenum...
