• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    F3T BRP Heated Grip

Hot! Seriously, they're as warm as I'd expected, and I've actually had to turn them off when the day was not frigid as my hands got too hot. One thing that I found out was that they work better with lighter winter gloves. The first time I used them (coming home from the dealer after the...

    F3T BRP Heated Grip

I had the dealer install mine. They quoted 3 hours (and that's what they charged me), but it was the first time the tech had done the install, at least on an F3-S. I think it took him well over 6 hours, as it wasn't finished at the end of the first day of work. It made me nervous about the...

New F3 fuel cap in the works from Lamonster Garage

Looks good to me. I didn't know that I wasn't alone in struggling with the gas cap.

Trip through western half of USA

By car and motorcycle, I've taken I-40 west from Tennessee. I tend to stay on the interstate until Texas or New Mexico. After that, I avoid interstates as much as possible. There are so many excellent secondary roads, with amazing vistas and little traffic. Of course, there are some areas that...

Does it really take 300 miles?

As many others have said, I liked it immediately, but it took at least 500–600 miles before I really started having fun on the curves again. I love my Spyder, but I do occasionally miss doing the curves on my HD. Then I get home to my gravel driveway and reverse into my garage, and remember...

Garmin maps and Canada ? coverage

My Garmin with the full North America coverage has worked well in Canada, and I've gone many hundreds of miles north of the border. But be sure that your installed maps are the full NA version, as the lower 49 state version did not work once I crossed the border (think gray screen).

    Shad luggage for the F3

Thanks for this! That combo is exactly the kind of thing I've been looking for. Next farkles lined up! One question: where are people buying Shad products? I was looking for the SH58X and I don't see any dealers in my area.

    Winter Storage..Best for tires?????

As a fellow (frozen) Virginian (and a new Spyder owner), I'd interested in the answers as well. I've been starting mine once a week and rolling it out of the garage. After it warms up, I've been driving a few hundred feet up our driveway and back. In the garage, I've got it sitting on rubber...

    F3 Saddlebags

I have the Cross-country bags, but I've only had them on since August, so I can't comment on wear. I like them. My only complaint was solved with a good squirt of powdered graphite into the locks. I don't know where you're looking, but they are $1000 on Amazon (which is $100 less than I paid...

    Would you ride over this?

I'm not sure that I'd be able to walk across it.

    Semi automatic

You may find you ride on your own more once you get a Spyder. I rarely rode alone when I had a Harley, but I have no hesitation about riding on my own now. So far, I've probably done more solo riding than jaunts together, though I enjoy both.

Road trip to Newfoundland this summer

I would advise caution about the ferry to Labrador. Weather can shut it down, even in mid-summer. When we took it, on July 9th, it had just been shut down for 3 days. We only had to wait for the afternoon ferry to cross to Quebec (the morning was fully booked), but on the Quebec side, there were...

    Wifeless rider

The stories in this thread remind me of how I got back into motorcycles, at about age 50, after not having ridden since high school. My husband suddenly announced he was buying a Harley. I stated that he was not buying a Harley, that wasn't in our plans. We went back and forth for a few minutes...

Road trip to Newfoundland this summer

I did Newfoundland and Labrador last summer (end of June through mid-July), but I was in my Honda Element. It was wonderful. (Labrador was quite an adventure and I saw some very brave souls on 2 wheels, but none on 3.) I would reiterate some of what has been said already. I hiked in sleet one...

    Question about add-on electrical items

When I looked at the buttons last night, I could clearly see the two positions. I think now I'll be able to tell by looking, even if I can't feel the difference with gloves on. I agree about the very warm hands! They were almost too warm on my ride last Sunday, but when I turned the heater off...

    Question about add-on electrical items

Thank you, Chris! I've always had gloves on, and, you're right— I didn't notice (or look for) any height difference. I'll check it out tonight when I get home.

    Question about add-on electrical items

Okay, now I'm really confused. First, assume that the Spyder is on the road. I have two lighted buttons. As long as the Spyder is turned on, they are lighted. But, they aren't switches. They're lighted disks. So, they don't have positions. And, as far as I can tell, if I touch them and turn...

    Question about add-on electrical items

I've had the driving lights and heated grips installed at my dealer and I've got a question. The on-off buttons are always lighted, so I can't tell by looking if the driving lights are off or on (same with the heated grips). Is it normal that the buttons are always lighted?

Another Spyder F3-S found a new happy owner.

Congratulations! Bought my (blue) F3-S at the end of July and still grin like crazy when I ride it. I moved over from 2 wheels, and haven't regretted it for a second. And, yeah, I wave like crazy when I see another Spyder, but they are rather scarce in my area of SW Virginia.
